Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
This thread is for Musical Guest Suggestions Only.
To request a Non-Musical, Non-Japanese Guest, please go to this thread.
To request a Non-Musical, Japanese Guest, please go to this thread.
If you have someone you'd like to see as a Musical Guest at Anime Boston 2019, please use this thread to make your suggestion.
Here's some guidelines to keep in mind:
When suggesting a musical guest, please give us their name and not just what they've worked on. Linking to their Wikipedia, Anime News Network, or Facebook page is a big help as are samples of their work on Youtube or Vimeo.
Keep in mind that even though someone may make a great musical guest, there are a number of factors that go into the Guest of Honor selection process including - but not limited to - availability, scheduling conflicts, travel expenses, and logistics.
This is a suggestion thread, not a nomination or voting process; posts seconding and agreeing with suggestions may be removed to keep the thread focused on the suggestions themselves.
No matter how enthusiastic you are, do not ask someone if they'd be interested in attending Anime Boston as a Guest. Sometimes when a potential guest is contacted by fans about attending Anime Boston it can be misinterpreted it as an official invitation from the convention itself. This can lead to confusion, mixed signals, and disappointment for everyone. These situations can actually backfire and hurt the convention's chances to have a guest attend.
Thank you.

Oh man I've been excited for this thread, I've got a few suggestions in mind!
1st: Asian Kung-Fu Generation. We had FLOW last year, so why not Asain Kung-Fu Generation? They'd be a dream to see and almost everyone who's into anime has either heard of them or knows at least one song they've played!

Re: Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
I have a list of musicians that I think would be a good fit for Anime Boston!
1st: LM.C. Fans of Katekyo Hitman Reborn! might know them as the band that provided the intro songs 'Boys and Girls' and '88'.
sample PV of their newest song 'ChainDreamers' off their album Future Sensation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5B7sMIg_O4
My personal favorite (as well as a favorite song from tons of other fans) pv 'Super Duper Galaxy':
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5B7sMIg_O4
2nd: Acme. This is a newer band that is releasing their first album on 8/8/18. I've linked the PV to their title track 'Zesshou Ouka'.
Zesshou Ouka: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5aCkJ5v7qE
3rd: sleepyhead. This is Takeru's solo project since SuG's disbandment. SuG was known for also doing a song for Reborn! called 'Gr8 Story'. Below is his pv for 'Meitei' off the album 'Dripping'
Meitei: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsoqB8_TcBE
4th: Vivarush. A newer band that is full of high energy performances and really trying to connect with their overseas fans! Below is the pv for their most recent song, 'Gang March', complete with English translation captions!
Gang March: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwSThkgpTzI
5th: Chiyu. Fans of SuG might be interested in knowing that Chiyu is also doing his own solo stuff and below is his pv for a song off his Seven Deadly Sins first full album!
無限の風: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LAxIVSHPg0
These are just some bands I'd love to see performing at Anime Boston because they are all fun bands who give their all for the live shows. Definitely some talented musicians to check out for those who might be looking for new bands to listen to and support!

Re: Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
LM.C
I would like first and foremost to present LM.C. They are hands down my favorite band, Japanese or otherwise. In the past they've done quite a few anisongs, and they remain a pretty active band... with a strong desire to come overseas!
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LM.Cofficial/
Myanimelist page: https://myanimelist.net/people/6320/LMC
88 (OP of Katekyo Hitman Reborn): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jis5z99Z3OE
Boys & Girls (OP of Katekyo Hitman Reborn): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4V7TMw3fgg
Hoshi no Arika (OP of Nurarihyon no Mago season 2): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDSvpctqlUY
The Love Song (OP of Nurarihyon no Mago season 2): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AH3aa67KKs
Punky Heart [not an anisong but a standout fan favorite]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUucLEOsAO8
Granrodeo
A favorite of sports anime watchers everywhere, this band is great and it would be a pleasure to see them perform live. The vocalist is also a voice actor who has been in some big anime (including roles like Jean from Attack on Titan, Himuro Tatsuya from Kuroko no Basuke, Natsuki from Uta no Prince-sama, and Chuuya from Bungou Stray Dogs)! Their anisongs catalog is quite extensive at this point but I've linked a couple of my personal favorites
Myanimelist page: https://myanimelist.net/people/8917/GRANRODEO
Trash Candy (OP of Bungou Stray Dogs): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRzQETjmIEc
Punky Funky Love (OP of Kuroko no Basuke season 3): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nrqgFkSw-M
The Oral Cigarettes
I found them through watching Noragami, and more recently I've looked into them farther and I really enjoy them. Their music is very energetic and makes me want to dance!
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheOralCigarettes/
Myanimelist page: https://myanimelist.net/people/39362/TH ... CIGARETTES
Kyouran Hey Kids!! (OP of Noragami Aragoto): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-o8pTi6vd8
Uverworld
There's a good chance if someone has been watching anime for any decent amount of time or has watched a popular anime they have heard an Uverworld song. There are a lot of high quality songs in their catalog so I think they would be worth looking into!
Myanimelist page: https://myanimelist.net/people/6608/UVERworld
Gekidou (OP of D.Gray-man): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7EBCFQzAQo
D-Tecnolife (OP of Bleach): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-u3fkgZkO0
Odd Future (OP of Boku no Hero Academia season 3) [I couldn't find an official upload of this one on youtube but it's a recent release so I wanted to include it on the list!]
SID
Another prolific band when it comes to anisongs. I think they would be a big draw for a con since most people have probably heard at least one of their songs as well.
Myanimelist page: https://myanimelist.net/people/7539/SID
Enamel (OP of Black Butler Book of Circus): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDK02xlB47k
Anniversary (OP of Magi the Kingdom of Magic): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ranZO_u-xOc
Monochrome no Kiss (OP of Black Butler) [again I couldn't find an official upload but this is one of their classic songs so it's worth listing]
To close I would also like to suggest looking into using Fake Star USA as your promoter! From my perspective as a fan of Japanese music they are top tier. They organize great shows and treat the artists right

Re: Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
I just have to submit my all-time favorite original idol group to the thread!!
Name: Stellure Idols
Stellure Idols is a nine-member Northeast-based American original idol group!! They write their own songs, design and create their own costumes, choreograph their own dances, and they're so so so talented and beautiful!! They've done three live performances at the time that I'm submitting this, with a fourth one in a few weeks!

Re: Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
I saw some Nintendo Switch ads around the top floor of the Hynes this past con. Not sure if Nintendo actually has any kind of deal going with AB but if so it might be easier to get...
Off the Hook from Splatoon 2! (see a concert they did at a con in Switzerland here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i9GTp3Mp30) It'd be pretty awesome to have them around here.

Re: Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
I would like to suggest 2 groups that I saw at Anime Festival Orlando last year, and again at MetroCon this year.
I hope you will bring them to Anime Boston 2019.
They are: Noise Complaint, who are a cosplay tap dance group. Last year they performed dressed in Sailor Moon and Naruto costumes, and this year, one thing they did during one of their performances was a 90's theme.
Here is their website:
https://www.noisecomplaintlive.com/
And their FaceBook page:
https://www.facebook.com/noisecomplaintlive/
The other group I'm suggesting is Geekapella, who are an a capella singing group. They sing both original songs and theydo covers of anime theme songs, such as "Through The Night" from "Outlaw Star" and the Pokemon theme song.
Here is their website:
https://geekapella.com/

Re: Musical Guest Suggestions for Anime Boston 2019
My top choice for this category is Mili, an art rock / progressive rock group that performs music in English, Japanese, Chinese, and a constructed language created by the vocalist / lyricist, momocashew.
Some examples of their work: "Camellia", "Summoning 101", "Mushrooms"
Some other musical guests I'd like to recommend are:
- Denki Groove (Electronic / Dance): "Shangri-La" (ED for Kuchuu Buranko), "Man Human (Devilman Crybaby version)"
- KOKIA (Art Pop / Folk): "Chouwa Oto ~With Reflection~ (OP for Origin: Spirits of the Past), "battle of destiny" (Theme for Dragon Nest)
- Aimer (Pop Rock): "Brave Shine" (from Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (2015)), "Kataomoi"
- Kenshi Yonezu (Alternative Rock / Art Rock / Pop Rock): "Peace Sign" (OP2 for My Hero Academia), "Sand Planet"
- Akiko Shikata (Dream Folk): "Utau Oka ~Harmonics FRELIA~ (OP for Ar Tonelico 2), "One-Winged Bird" (OP for Umineko no Naku Koro ni TV)

- Susumu Hirasawa (Electronic / Art Pop): "Forces" (Insert Song from Berserk 1997), "The Girl in Byakkoya (Theme from Paprika)

Please consider Goose House! They wrote and performed the opening theme for Your Lie in April and the ending theme for the second season of Silver Spoon. Their sound is super catchy and upbeat, with great vocal harmonies.
They're amazing live (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4Km6LFINzI) and at least one of the members speaks fluent English, which would make it easier to connect with an American audience.

Okay but
Deadlift Lolita Is literally the bees knees!
It consists of the viral Ladybeard, the bodybuilder who cosplays mostly females like Nico Yazawa and Chun Li!
And another body builder, Reika Saiki, who is a literal beefy goddess.
I would die happy if i ever met Either of them. They usually do panels, signings, and performances from what i can tell on their page.
I think AB could use some more kawaii-core, don't you?

I second the motion for inviting Off the Hook from Nintendo's Splatoon 2. We appreciate the virtual concerts and video game music genre.
I also want to see for the 4th time asking, T.M. Revolution helloooooo! He did the Heart of the Sword for Rurouni Kenshin, it's perfect! come onnnn!
Hikaru Utada as well, I mean Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming out. It's the perfect timing.
Would be crazy to get a legend like MAAYA SAKAMOTO! MEGUMI HAYASHIBARA, OKUI MASAMI, please please please!

I think Band-Maid would make a great musical guest. They are a high energy live band that puts on a great show. They recently did the ending theme for a Yu-Gi-Oh series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkhLVjWRZ58&t=0s

My number one choice might be a stretch, and I bet they’re probably booked solid, but I would love love love if you could ask the k-pop group BTS to come to AB 2019
Here’s their website: http://bts.ibighit.com/#

Also, I’m not sure if they would be considered a “musical guest”, but I think a great group would be The Corps Dance Crew. They’re a cosplay dance troupe based in LA, and they are incredible.

Kalafina has already been mentioned, but I want to recommend it once again!
Not to mention that they haven't done just Black Butler openings, they worked on the masterpiece of an OST that you can hear in Puella Magi Madoka Magica :

Starlight Kukugumi from Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight
https://revuestarlight.com/

They started as a musical last year, a rerun of the musical in January, the anime came out just last season.
They had a concert in June and another one upcoming in December.
The second musical was held between Oct 13-21. I went to two showings and it was awesome.
They performed at Animelo Summer Live this Summer and is scheduled to appear at Animax Musix in Yokohama in November.
There should be a few familiar names if you've seen LoveLive! and BanG Dream!

This one is DEFINITELY a longshot, but hey, a suggestion is a suggestion.
I would LOVE to see Babymetal. It seems like a really fun show. I have no idea if they even do cons, but it could be a lot of fun.

I would love to see Dean Fujioka perform! He's actually starting his first tour right now and should be finishing around the end of March or start of April. He does "History Maker" which is the opening to the anime "Yuri!!! on Ice." I think he also just performed on MTV Japan for New Years? He's pretty popular! He's also about to release his second album at the end of January 2019 so I bet he'd love the publicity ^_^

Anyone ever consider a gentleman named Piano Squall?
"Thou who art darker than even darkness,
Thou who art deeper than even the night!
Thou, the Sea of Chaos, who drifts upon it,

Hereby I call to thee,
Hereby I swear before thee!
Those who would stand against us,
All those who are fools,
By the power you and I possess,
Grant destruction equally upon them all!
