I sure as hell didn't get a replacement GH2 guitar or PS2 pad, and all donor items were pretty much "loan at your own risk we'll replace it if stolen" last time I checked, so good luck with that.

Very swimmingly actually. It's pretty much complete at this rate. It's pretty much updating graphics and slowly adding a few easy/medium charts for occasional songs.

You never change, do ya J.M.? ;)

But yeah, seeing as how it's your machine, maybe I'll come out of retirement for a song or two, even though I'm VERY out of shape.

And I'll bring my future sister in law with me and force her to play too!

If you require us to pay in your coin slots....

....I don't care as long as it's no more than 25 cents per song hehe =)

LOL, I can't break a machine by continuously dancing on it even if I tried....I'm way too light it seems (even though I stomp like an elephant), but it's also cause I'm not advance enough to break the machine doing all those crazy 13 footer songs on ITG like Summer Speedy Mix.

Maybe if the problem was localized to just one controller instead of mounds of demolished plastic collected over the years then fine.

Congoers break stuff, that's why there was a waiver.

Edit button is gone, must just disappear after a time limit XD

About the tourney! I assume we can use whatever speed mods we want...BUT

Since this is technically an ITG tourney now with the machine and all....Will Mini be allowed as a mod? Most ITG tourneys ive been to, i have been allowed to use it.

Just asking, thanks!

EDIT! Caught the button this time :P

Just saw the front page with tourney times and all! What I am curious about (along with my question about mods!) is that there are multiple different posts about DDR/ITG tournaments. The one on Friday @ 5PM says ITG Anime Boston tourney. Will this be on the machine and ONLY using the songs from the two packs you made? Or will the whole machine be available minus custom somgs via flash drive?

I assume the same question can be said about the DDR Arcade Machine tourney on saturday, since there will only be one machine with ITG on it. Or will Mole be switching it to an older version of DDR for that day?

Sorry for the long post! Just all excited since it's in 3 weeks :D

Now that the tournament schedule is up, I can post the tournament rules.

[Anime Boston 2009 ITG Tournament Rules]

Songs used in this tournament will include In the Groove 1, 2, Rebith, and the Anime Boston 2009 Pack and the Plus pack.

You can download the packs here:
Anime Boston 2009 Pack
Anime Boston 2009 Plus Pack

The ITG3 theme will be used.

Any number of players are allowed to participate.

Tournament will be gauntlet style until it cuts to top 8. Top 8 will move on to a Double Elimination round.

If there are more than 32 participants, Round 1 of the gauntlet will cut to the top 32.

During Gauntlet: A song will be chosen from a list and will be picked randomly. Each player will play that song and have their scores recorded. Players must not exit from the results screen until scores have been recorded. Those who scored in the bottom half are eliminated. The top half will move on to the next round.

All rounds until top 16 will play one of the following 9-block songs, which will be selected randomly at the start of the tournament (Ex is Expert mode, H is Hard mode):
Mongolian Grill [Ex]
Let My Love Go Blind [Ex]
My Life Is So Crazy [Ex]
Clockwork Genesis [H]
Space Boy [Ex]
Baby Seal [Ex]
Monolith [H]
Tank! Eurobeat Mix [H]

Top 16 will play one of the following 10-block songs, which will be selected randomly after the previous round is finished:
Charly [Ex]
Stars Above [Ex]
Summer In Belize [Ex]
Try to Star [Ex]
Schrodinger's Cat [H]
Megascorcher [Ex]
Energizer [H]
Beatonic Nation [Ex]

In the case that we need to have a tiebreaker, another song from the same list for the respective rounds will be used.

During Top 8: The format will be Double Elimination, NCAA-style bracket. Players are seeded according to their scores from the previous gauntlet round.

From this point on, the tournament is Expert mode only. All songs with an Expert chart are fair game. Players may not choose the same song more than once during Double Elimination.

Selectable mods: Speed (CMOD if it doesn't disqualify from ranking), Perspective, Noteskin, Mini.

Each match will be best 2 out of 3. Higher seed chooses either side preference or song choice (whether he/she chooses first or second song). Lower seed chooses whatever the higher seed doesn't pick (obviously).

For third song (and onward when necessary), Random will be chosen to determine the next song to play. All players have two vetoes during the entire Double Elimination round. They may be used during Random to choose a new Random song. If both players run out of vetoes, they must play the Random that appears.

Fail rule: The player with the highest percentage score wins the song regardless of pass or fail. For example, if a player walks off a song, the other player must get a higher percentage score in order to walk off for a win.

Pad arbitration: Matches wil be monitored by tournament directors (and sometimes other players) to determine fault in the pad or the player and will recalculate the score accordingly. Pad non-combos will be recalced as Excellents.

The Top 2 will consist of the winner of the winner's bracket and the winner of the loser's bracket. These two players will enter a Match Rules style round. Each player's song choices are reset. Both players will continue alternating in choosing their songs until one player defeats his/her opponent by two songs. A coin flip will determine who chooses the first song. If the winner of the loser's bracket wins the match, he/she must play another round (because it would be the opponent's first elimination). The winner of this match wins the tournament.

Grounds for disqualification: Not following the rules, excessive stomping of pads, kicking or punching the machine and/or other players, unsportsmanlike conduct, being a furry (not serious), smelling bad (please bring deodorant at the very least, but for everyone's sake, SHOWER).

Rules are subject to change, but I highly doubt it.

As for the DDR tournament, whoever is running that will decide on the rules, but I may also help out with that.

"*DDR Arcade/ITG Tournament: Qualifiers start Friday at 11:00am and are available upon request."

No, it means that starting at 11am on Friday, qualifiers will be run all day until the tournament on Saturday. For ITG, there actually isn't a qualifier. Everybody who signs up for the ITG tournament is entered. I'm not sure what the rules for DDR Extreme are, but it involves a qualifier, most likely cutting to top 32. You may ask the tournament director to play the qualifier any time between 11am Friday and the DDR tournament on Saturday to have your name and score recorded. When it comes time to start the tournament, you will then find out if you qualified or not.

I know that smell is no laughing matter, I just like how dave said and smelling bad (no seriously). I agree, I have dealt with some nasty smelling people at cons, and its not fun at all. But it is a grounds for disqualification which is not a usual rule in tournaments, and I'm referring to not DDR, so I found it amusing that it was included.

Since there is no qualifier for the ITG tournament on Friday, will there be a "max" amount of people who will be allowed to sign up? I know last year it was a bombardment of people just trying to get a spot in the Brawl tourney, and I ended up missing out on it. Hope it's not the same case (But if it is, I know my first stop friday morning since I'm getting my badge of Thursday. HA SUCKERS IN LINE!)

No, there's no limit. In the case that there's more than 32 entrants, the first round will determine the top 32. It's pretty much the same concept as a qualifier.

[Anime Boston DDR Tournament Rules]

DDR will be run on an Extreme arcade machine.

The tournament will have a 64 player limit using a qualifier to cut to the top 16 players. Top 16 will go into Double Elimination rounds.

The qualifier is "Synchronized Love". The tiebreaker is "I Feel". The next tiebreaker is "Sync" [Heavy], and any further tiebreakers will use Random.

To qualify, ask a staff member about qualifying for DDR. They will point you to me or Alex (lunchbox). Play the qualifying song, and you will have your name and score recorded. You may only play the qualifier once.

Qualifying begins at 11am on Friday, and will run until the actual tournament on Saturday. Players who have played the qualifier must show up to check if they made it in the top 16 and in case they need to play a tiebreaker. Otherwise, they may choose to opt out of participating in the tournament by telling me to mark them off the player list.

Selectable modifiers:
All speed, noteskins (Solo by player agreement), boost, reverse.
Bar use is permitted.

Scoring:
Higher perfect count and O.K.'s wins.
Pad misses/dropped freezes will be counted as Perfects and O.K.'s.

People will be watching you play. If you claim pad on anything when it was obviously your fault, we will not have it work in your favor.

Double Elimination:
The top 16 players from the qualifying round will go into Double Elimination matches using an NCAA-style bracket. Players are seeded according to how well they did on the qualifier.

All Heavy/Oni charts are selectable. A player may not choose a stepchart they have previously chosen during the tournament.

Matches are best 2 out of 3. The third song will be Random. Any further tiebreakers will use Random.

Higher seed is given the option to choose either side or if they want to choose first or second song.

Grounds for Disqualification:
Same as in the ITG rules. Including the smelling bad part.

And most importantly, have fun!
