Hi Folks its your friendly neighborhood Theme Coodinator.
The theme this year is essentially "Creatures from the Deep". Which will incorporate both Japaneses mythological sea creatures, creatures from the actual sea of japan and some more monstrous creatures popular in modern Japaneses mythos.
You may remember that our theme last year was Matsuri and that as a result we had con wide festival decorations. We hope to do even more this year!

Anime Boston is and will always be a very family friendly event. The only naughty tentacles will be in the minds of the attendees. We certainly cannot control what people think about when they see a giant octopus. *I* think "delicious!" and someone else might think "fascinating!" and all you folks who think "naughty!" need to expand your hentai genres past tentacles.

[color:#ff6699]Can someone explain how to pay? I have a problem.
See, if it's 30 dollars, I should be alright since I have my nifty 30 dollar gift card, good for buying things online.
35 is a problem. I cannot get a 35-40 dollar gift card--only a 50 dollar one and it could mean a little bit of trouble for me to try and get one at this time...
So what do I do? I know it's early and pre-reg won't be up for a while, but I need to be prepared for the worst, you know?
I *can* afford 35 dollars. I just don't know how to pay it.[/color]

I'm not sure I understand what your dilemma is. It's not like the extra $15 on a $50 gift card is lost for good if you only spend $35 on it. You can use that $15 elsewhere if you'd like -- whether it's to buy gas, groceries, etc. Just take $15 out of your grocery budget to get the $50 card and then use the $15 on the card towards your next batch of groceries, for example.

I myself just need the form so I can print it out and mail it in with my payment, like I did last year.
I had to get rid of my credit cards. Got in to deep, couldn't pay them what they wanted.
Am now in a program with a firm. Money still tight, but at least I have head above water, barely.

I assume you are talking about credit/gift cards...
First of all (this is not an official statement whatsoever), in my con experiences, 30 dollars is probably not going to be enough for a 3-day pass. I don't know what a weekend pass to AB08 will be, but if it's $30 or less I would be surprised.
That said, the easiest way to go about it would be to get a larger card (like the $50 you mentioned.) Another possibility is to get a small card, and use all of one and some on another - again, I'm not sure if this a possibility with our reg system. I'd wait to see what the reg system actually looks like before attempting to pay with two seperate cards.
Or you can print your reg form and mail it in (again, assuming the reg system allows.)
IMO, the easiest thing to do is grab a 50 dollar card and use the 30 dollar one and the remainder of the 50 on anime and/or video games

Web layout works nice. (And I know these things)
@ chibi moon
Most likely $35+, so see what you can't do. If you end up using your $50 card, just put a piece of duct tape on with the current balance.

I can indeed confirm that there will be a $35 pre-reg rate for the weekend, and yes, no matter when we get the pre-reg system up. No worries on that.

We're hoping to incorporate it in a variety of ways. Last year we had festival themed decoration panels and this year we hope to have some really cool scenes that are informative and in-theme as well as good for impromptu photo shoot backgrounds. There's a lot of brainstorming about incorporating the theme into different types of programming including video rooms, panels, hall costume contests and of course the formal ball. Every year our goal is to incorporate the theme in more interesting and creative ways than the year before.
As for pirates, we'd like to avoid the old pirate/ninja/robot/cowboy arrrrgument. (sorry)

The pre-reg list is gone? Why is that? Privacy issues or something? I always was amused seeing some badges. I remember one back from 2005...."Lucielle the one sided jelly bean". Man, that always interesting to see scrolling down the list, haha.
*Shout out to whoever that was, haha*

Partly privacy issues; partly because people Just Didn't Get It. We had a lot of questions/complaints "Why am I on the list?" (because you asked to be) or "Why am I not on the list?" (because you asked to be off it.)
In the end, it just wasn't a very effective system of informing people about their registration status. One of the things that's going into the improved system is a detailed status page: plug in your secret code, and you know if we've gotten your payment (and when), if it's cleared, if it's bounced, etc.
