AMV EDITORS DINNER 2014 - Minor Update

The AMV Dinner will be held at Uno's at 7pm on march 20th.

What happens at the dinner?
Hanging out with your fellow editors.
Editing Hardship stories.
Possibly a group card game (Apples to Apples or Cards against Humanity)
Eating, drinking and merry making.
The group photo.

Well, chances are, we will be seeing the group again. Not sure if Meli will make it this year, but still trying to encourage her to.

Is there any way we could find a different venue for this?

It's not a bad walk, but in cold weather it wouldn't be pleasant and in march we could still be looking at snow. There's not much space outside to gather, and when you get inside you can't easily talk to people who aren't at your table.

(And the food is only ok.)

I would think though, that if another venue were to happen, you'd probably have a bit of trouble with that. Finding another place as close, yet cheap enough for everyone to afford, while also having a variety of different types of foods, and so on might be a bit of a stretch. I agree though, the food may only be "okay", I enjoy it as a tradition mostly.

I know the group used to go to the Cheesecake Factory, but not sure why that even changed. I think I knew, but I don't remember. Legal Seafood is fantastic, but not everyone is for fish. PF Changs, same, only a select menu. All the other places I can think of are either too much, or are pretty much "in-and-out" sub shops and pizza parlours. (Firehouse subs, Stevie's Pizzeria *I think it was called on Boylston by JP licks*...etc)

If you have any recommendations though, I personally would love to hear. My group may be doing a "going away" dinner for the first time sunday, since we are actually staying that night this year too.

They don't take reservations. Our group (of less than 20 back then) had to wait 90-minutes to 2 hours to be seated. With the group at the size it is now, it just wouldn't happen.

I don't think it's too late yet, but I know it's becoming a close thing. I'm willing to look for another restaurant in the area, but I don't want to spend a few hours researching one if it's not something that will be considered.

The last 2 years UNO's has treated us super nice, are affordable , sell decent priced drinks and always let us reserve.
How should I put this? If somethings not broke why fix it.

The cheesecake factory apparently told us that they won't take large group reservations. They are in a high-traffic area and are always full all weekend, it doesn't make economic sense for them to. Large groups are more likely to stay around taking up table space for a long time, costing them in total volume.

Okay cheesecake factory is overrated, overpriced and because Uno's is off sight we avoid mall traffic.
Obviously if they don't let me reserve there I will find us another place..

Not too expensive
Serves Beer/Wine (at least)
Takes large reservations (with a month in advance) 40 or more
Not too far from the convention.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking might be the reason why. Oh well. Doesn't hurt to try again this year, haha.

Also, I agree with Uno's services. Every year we went there, the waiter/waitress has been absolutely splendid. Our first year, they screwed up my order by putting onions or something on my steak, and I informed the waitress. She took care of it, the manager came by, and offered me a free dessert. I am not sure if I took it or not, but after it all, she would dwindle around.... be down to earth... not like "I have a job" but more funning around like a friend in a way. I complimented to the manager of her thereafter. As for price, my friends aren't as "in the money" as I am, so it's great for them. We all have different tastes, like I hate chicken, but love seafood and beef. I have friends who can't do seafood, and some that are vegetarian, and so on. It's honestly probably the perfect place. (Hardrock Cafe is still better IMO though)

This will be year 5 for us.
