Anime Boston Masquerade Performance Contest Questions

Post by FuntimeFreddy60 »

Greetings!
I had a few questions I wanted to ask about the performance contest of the masquerade. So, over the last six or seven years here at Anime Boston, I've been dressing up as Funtime Freddy from the Five Nights at Freddy's games, which got me asking some things. Would characters from Five Nights at Freddy's be permitted or would they be prohibited for the contest? The second question I wanted to ask is do you need proof of a choreography video if you wanted to do a dance for the contest? And the final question I had was about which division I'd be placed in the contest (novice or intermediate)? Back in 2018, I won the award for Best Musical Performance at Queen City Kamikaze in Manchester NH, but I have not done any masquerade contests here at Anime Boston before (I have been in the audience in costume though). Since I have no prior with auditioning in the Anime Boston masquerade, I'd say I would be placed in the Novice division. I'll include a link to the video of my dance from the Comic-Con back in 2018 in the bottom of the message. Let me know if you want to reply back to me, and take care!

Sincerely,
FuntimeFreddy60

Hi there!
Five Nights At Freddy's is an American IP, and does not have sufficient Japanese inspiration to qualify for competition in the Anime Boston Masquerade. To answer your other questions:

If Five Nights At Freddy's is the only costume in question, it doesn't qualify for entry. If you had another costume to enter that did qualify, you could submit under Novice.

To review a Dance submission, we would ask for either a video of the choreography, or a file that outlines the choreography in detail.

I hope this helps!

Perfect. That's all I wanted to know. Here's to hoping for another great year at Anime Boston! Thanks for the feedback, and if you do see me dressed up as Funtime Freddy walking around the convention or sitting in the audience this year, be sure to stop by and say hello!

Sincerely,
