I got out of there while still in the black. Actually, I didn't spend any money in the dealer's room whatsoever - I just bought food, a belt at Newbury Comics, and Pokemon Diamond from Gamestop.

Actually, I left with $100 unspent. Then again, my wife and I save up for the entire year for AB, and as a result we're never really caught short on cash.

I spent 175 dollars on DVDs alone.
But for some reason, some of the transactions from the con that I put on my card WERE on my card, but aren't anymore. Kinda strange. >_>

I walked out with over $500. ;D
Thank you Artist's Alley! I was also able to make additional money to pay for all my groups' food (3 people for 3 days), dealer's room shopping, and the $40/day parking.

just be careful.. i had that happen before and really, they might show up when you least expect it... now there was a thread on here about how much money someone should bring to a con... i usually (if i'm not working it) save up $500 so i can buy those really expensive statues and games... this year i had 75 bucks... but got more than i usually get with 500...weird eh?

Then I got food.
Then I got $5 from my uncle.
Then I got food.
I had $5.50 total.
The I got $5 from my sister.
I bought two mangas for $8.40 total.

food was not a problem with us! with how expensive things were gonna be, i decided to make things easier--
you shoulda seen the obese rolling suitcase we brought!
1-24pk case of water
1-12pk case of pepsi
1-box of hello kitty fruit snacks
1-box of caribou crunch bars
1-box of smores granola bars
2-boxes of mini muffins
1-bushel of bananas
1-loaf of bread
1-peanut butter
1-jelly
2-bags of coffee from Dean's Beans (where my b/f works)
1-ream of disposable cups for coffee
1-bag of plastic silverware (for pb+j and coffee)
1-bag with random sugars packets, tea bags, etc)
so...there you have it. and to top it off, it was only moving with one wheel--bought that suitcase at salvation army for like $3 at xmas time!
it's SO coming next year!
that saved me a TON of money and time!

Walked in with almost $400, walked out with less than $50. It was well spent though. I'm happy with everything I bought though.

Came in with $220...
Spent $80 on hotel,
$50 on pass,
$20 on ride there,
about $10 on Soda...
Pitched in $20 to get out of parking garage
And I have $27 left, somehow.

This was my first con every, and wow did I not bring enough money. I brought about 230 dollars and had about 20 left after the fare to get home. It didn't help things that I actually dropped and lost 20 dollars on the T . But I'm definately coming back next year, and with LOTS more money

I spent $50 more than I usually do in the dealer's room. That brought me to a total of buying $50 worth of merchandise~ I find it hard to shop with so many people...
Between various money sinks, I entered the con with $100 on hand and left with $12-ish, which covered all my food expenses and a ticket home.

Word of advice to all convention goers: there are plenty of good places around Boston to eat cheap. Explore the city a little while you're there. Heck, to eat cheap, you don't even have to go two blocks. I planed for a $20 a day budget for food, and not once did I spend more than $10. And I ate well. I notice that there are people, that once they get in the convention center, shut themselves up in there from morning until night. I'm not making fun or knocking those people in any way, shape, or form -- considering how much time I spent in the Hynes myself -- but if that's how you play it, if you stick to just the convention center, mall, and hotel alone, then you are going to spend more on food and drinks that way. I strongly suggest that when you have time to do so, you use it to get out of the convention center area for a bit to explore the various shops and restaurants in at least the immediate area. I ate cheaper and probably better that way.
I hope I've just saved some of you some money next year.

I didn't eat last year because I only came with $60 (Can tell I was a con newbie XD)
This year I came with just under $300, and when I got home and put away the remaining $5 or so in my bank for next year's AB, I discovered tucked inside last year's booklet thing about $45 dollars. Being a smart girl, I had hidden that so I wouldn't spend ALL of my money and forgotten about it last year. Good thing too, or I wouldn't have been able to afford Pokemon Pearl.

On the car ride I had $100 plus $30 for registration. Then my mom had to borrow $60, so that left me with $40.
And I came out with $17 left over. I may have only bought 2 things, but because I picked them out carefully I feel as if I got a better deal than last year. ^^ (Last year, all I did was buy the first thing I saw. Needless to say, most of it is in a box somewhere unknown.) I'm very happy with my Death Note purse and Carrot Kitty mini-purse. ^^

surprisingly i only spent about $60 on art and a couple dealers room things and lunch for two of the days. Pretty good considering i have not worked since last summer and I am still leaching of my savings until I resume working this summer.

Wheheh, I'd been planning this weekend for ages, so pretty much all my money in savings went into it. ^^; I paid for more than half the cost of 2 hotel rooms for 2 days, but still managed to blow roughly 3 weeks' pay while at the Hynes. x__x;
One thing that helped a lot was stocking up at the grocery store a week in advance. I bought a 6-pack of 16-ounce drinks on sale for $3. Perfect for that whole hydration issue. Food's a bit heavy on the way up, but it gives you more room for the stuff you buy after it's gone. XD

I only spent 8 bucks on friday for food and 8 bucks on saturday.
Just go into Au Bon Pan and get a large soup and a drink! Get that around 2-3pm and it should be enough to last through the entire day!
Thats the only money I spent at the convetion since i had to drop 20 dollars on parking...so all and all about 40 bucks for 2 days of massive fun!!! ^_^
I try to avoid the dealers room cause i dont wanna blow 20 bucks on a plushie =P

Though I agree, the prices are pretty insane sometimes. x__x;

Just like last year, I think I'm the only one of my friends who left the con without having emptied their wallet. My friend almost cried when he discovered the ATM, knowing he'd spend that much more.
I guess it helps that I have people to answer to when I get home. I hate it when I buy something and am approached with a "why'd you buy that??", so that probably put a subconscious limit on what I bought.
I actually wish I had bought more.

I came home with like 30 dollars total left.I spent roughly a 1000 dollars at the con.Between the charity auction and one super rare out of print book in the dealers room i spent 825 dollars. But the charity auction was well worth it in my book.It went to a great cause. It will take me a bit to recover from the con but i do not mind at all.

I went into the con with 200 dollars...
I walked out with 53 cents...
oh wait, my mistake it's 3 cents XD
I think I spent my money on a crapload of pins in the artist alley. The deal was $3 for 2. So I'm like, cool that's a good deal. So I bought a couple. Then I later came back and bought more. (that continued on for the next 3 days)
Low and behold the dealer's room and its crapload of pins which were like 2.50 each...
I bought two plushies ^-^
And I didn't eat...(because I was a pyscho and spent all my money on pins)
