Anime Boston

Similar to the AMV Dinner that’s hosted every year, I’m proud to announce the first ever Anime Boston Panelist Dinner at this year’s con! This is something I’ve talked over doing with Kate (the head of panels) for the past year and she’s been very supportive, so we’re going forward with the idea. If there’s enough interest we hope to make this a yearly tradition, again similar to the annual AMV Dinner!

So here’s the important info:

WHEN: Thursday, March 29th at 7:15 pm
WHERE: Wagamama in the Prudential Center
WHO: Any panelists, past or present, or panel staff, plus any guests
PLEASE: Bring cash! We will not be able to split card payments, so you MUST bring cash if you plan to order anything!

I’m hoping this will be a chance for all of us panelists to connect and share tips and stories; whether you’re an experienced returning vet, a retired former panelist, or a brand new panelist presenting for the first time this year, we can all learn from each other! Most of all I think it will be a fun time for all!

PLEASE make sure to RSVP by replying to this thread! I will need to have a head count to make our reservation by about that Monday (March 26th). Just reply if you’d like to come and state if you’ll be bringing any guests, and if so how many. I will also be cross-posting this to the AB Facebook group, but if any of you know of any other places to share this, please feel free! Thanks again and I hope to see you at the con!

Seconded, this sounds like a lot of fun. I'll likely be at the Hynes that day anyway to pick up my badge so I could just hang around for a few hours until then.

I was wondering if I should make the thread, as I do recall there was some chatter about it after the con last year. So certainly I shall try to attend and poke some other panelists about it that don't come by the forums/media often.

Slight modification to my original post- my Amtrak train time was changed (got a notice about it but forgot till I checked) so I made the dinner for 7:15 just to make sure I had enough time to check in and get my badge before the dinner. I doubt the extra 15 minutes is a big deal to anyone but just wanted to let you know. Glad to see we’ve already had some signups; please be sure to let me know if you plan to bring any guests as well!

I'm planning to attend (though I'll be traveling into town after work - and I also need to pick up my badge, which ends at 8:30, and put my work in the art show - which will be possible from 8-9) - so, I'll figure it out I guess!

...Should be interesting. It's my custom to eat at Wagamama Pre-Con every year the night before. So, I will be there regardless.

Dropping a heads-up in that I'm likely going to run a few minutes late. Not because of badges, that I'll have covered, but around the start of this, I just have to make a small errand at B&N then I'll head right over.

I just didn't want anyone thinking I ditched when I have zero interest in missing out.

I'm not going to be able to make it after all. Have some unfinished panel prep still that I've got to get squared away tonight.

Thank you to everyone who came to this! We got a way bigger turnout than I even expected and it was awesome, we’ll definitely try to make this a yearly staple from now on!

I couldn't make it this time, but maybe I'll be there next year. Hope it was fun!

I was there but due to how crowded it was, I got takeout. The line stretched all the way to Pinkberry and it was Pre-Con.

...Post-Con dinner, anyone?

We had a reservation so they sat us right away, we didn’t have to wait. Just an fyi for anyone else who might have seen the line and gone home, we actually did not have to wait in it.
