Anyone cosplaying DA this year? I've got a Cole cosplay in the works and a Krem cosplay in my closet.

I haven't run a meetup in a few years, but if no one else has plans for one I could do it.

I have a Cassandra cosplay, and friends that have Sera and possibly Blackwall and Leliana!

I'm planning on doing a fem modern zevran and I think I have a friend going as hawke

I'm going as modern Fenris and my wife is doing a modern Marian Hawke so we'd definitely be interested in going to a meet up

I will be cosplaying as Leliana either Saturday or Sunday

I'll be Meredith whichever day people want to meet up :]

I found out that I have another cosplay engagement on Friday. How does Saturday work for people? What times are people available?

Hey I'm going as Marian Hawke on friday and Sunday and my bf is joining me Sunday as Varric

My current lineup is up for debate, so the only day I know I'm doing DA is Friday. If I finish my Revolutionary Girl Utena cosplay in time, that overrides my Saturday spot, at least for the morning. If I don't I'll have Cole on Friday and most of Saturday, and Krem on Sunday. Otherwise I'm being Cole on Friday and Sunday.

i'm going as modern fenris. not sure what day though.

I will be cosplaying Morrigan on Saturday, and attending the meetup at Solas Pub on Sunday! (might do the con on Sunday as Morrigan as well, since I don't want to bring a change of wig)

Does anyone know anything about a photoshoot yet? Anything organized? I'm not able to organize a whole shebang, but I can help run one if someone wants to take care of the logistics (I can shout real loud).

should a photoshoot/meetup be set up then? i think saturday would be best (its also likely i'll be going as fenris that day too!). i'm not too good at organizing one, but if someone can, that would be pretty cool.

We've been talking about a meetup/photoshoot but there's nothing concrete yet. I can run it if people want to do that. I guess I'll switch around my schedule so I can be Cole Saturday afternoon, if that's more convenient for everyone. I'm good with the logistics and all that, but I can't shout...At all...so that works.

I can assist with the shouting part, and I don't have any other time or cosplay commitments on Saturday so I can meet up whenever people are free

I can assist with the shouting as well! I'm a stage manager, my entire job description is herding cats.

I can do any time on Saturday, too! I go to cons 90% for the hall cosplay, so I'll adjust my schedule for whatever works for everyone else.

Okay so I will figure out a time and place sometime this week and post it on the photoshoot master thread. If anyone has time constraint, post before the end of this week and I'll do my best to schedule around it.
Remember to tell people about the meetup day of con. I think I can wrangle a friend or two to shoot photos, but if anyone knows someone willing to camera for us, the more the merrier.

i've gotten a few friends interested in coming. saturday afternoon would be pretty ideal-- there's just the issue of finding an available location.

I'm looking into getting us a good spot sometime between 1 pm and 5 pm. The masquerade normally starts at six, so I'm staying clear from that time, and a bit past noon is really schedule crowded. It will probably end up being around 3 pm or 4 pm depending on the best area I can find for us.

I put in our form to be put on the masterlist, but it hasn't been added yet. No one else has claimed this spot, though, so we should be good.
We'll be meeting in the Hynes on the 2nd floor, by room 206. You take the escalator to the second floor and keep walking forward and left.
Most of the good spots were taken, but this should suit our needs.
3:30-4:30 pm. Saturday.

So excited!! The Dragon Age photoshoot is always the highlight of my weekend.

The Dragon Age shoot still on for Saturday? I was gonna host the Dragon Age dinner but I got kinda screwed over in the end and couldn't get the reservation. I still can't wait for the photoshoot though. I also created, and will bring with me, 2 sets of cards for Wicked Grace if anyone wants to learn how to play. I'll be cosplaying as my Dalish Inquisitor, possibly in my Winter Palace uniform.

Shoot is still on saturday. Made this post on tumblr for easy advertising. Currently agonising over my Cole cosplay, but I cannot wait to see ya'll. I'll probably bring stickers.

Hey!! I was rogue Hawke at the shoot last year (and if you were at the CT Con meetup, I was Inquisitor Trevelyan) - I wish I could be part of the DA shoot this year but I sadly had to betray y'all with Overwatch...I'M SORRYYYY BUT I will definitely stop by to say hello and see everyone!!

However I WILL be Cassandra at the formal ball, accompanied by Cullen and Morrigan on Friday night!

If any of you are going to CT Con this year, let me know! I want to have a DA meetup set for then (making Cassandra's armor) - I'm also working on big Overwatch stuff for then, too, but I'm trying to make my DA cosplays and the meetup on Saturday. Cheers!

"Varric" and I will definitely be making this (and probably the Solas Pub meetup) but we have a question. He made a Bianca prop out of wood and now we don't know if security will let it in. It'll definitely break first if it hits someone and the wood is soft enough that it got dents when he left tools on it. The crossbow itself is hollow. That said it looks pretty formidable since it IS wood and someone on tumblr messaged him to say it won't get let in. Any thoughts?

Here's a link to AB's prop weapons policy. It's pretty specific, and should be able to help you out.

Crossbows aren't on the list of prohibited weapons, and I have seen other wooden weapons at the con in the past. It sounds like his prop is pretty lightweight, and if it doesn't fire it should deemed safe by security. That said, security can be weird sometimes and if he has questions I'd suggest seeing if you can email them ahead of time to see if it would be allowed in. I know they say they can't pre-approve props, but they should be able to tell you if it's worth bringing, at least.

EDIT: Re the Solas Pub meetup, the organizer said there was an issue getting us a room, and since there's a lot of us I'm not sure if it's going to be happening. Double check on the Facebook page so you can plan accordingly!

Thank you! That sounds reassuring. The weapon was made with the weapons guidelines in mind but it does have a lil heft to it. We asked the AB Facebook a few days ago and the response was inconclusive. Yeah I saw with the Solas meetup, I was figuring we could maybe try a different restaurant, but I still have to suggest that on the page

The security at the con has always been persnickety, so there's almost never a 100% chance a prop can be accepted, but it sounds like the odds are in your favour. I'd say bring it. Worse case scenario; they keep it in storage for the day.
The weapons check is normally considered more scary than it actually is. People have been treating it a lot more seriously these past years, but typically that's because they didn't pay attention to the rules. I forgot to get mine checked last year, and no one bothered me, so I mean... You got a sporting chance.

Sucks that they were so unhelpful with the crossbow question. :/ I've never known AB security to be that helpful, so I guess it's par for the course. And @MacabreSmile has a point! It's not like you'll have to leave the con if you can't bring Bianca in (I hope you can, though... as a Varric cosplayer myself I'd love to see this prop! It sounds like a beauty).

Thank you guys! It's honestly so heartwarming to see how nice the AB community is. Fingers crossed! If Bianca is a no-go then he'll be carrying around a copy of Swords and Shields instead. With the FB group, I've got one person so far interested in finding another meetup spot but neither of us know the area enough to make a well informed suggestion on where to go. That said, there are so many restaurants in the area that I'm sure we'll find something
