What's Next?

Post by Kalyoth »

So - where everything has been very quiet now for months - wanna ask the question many of us are curious about: What are the current plans for 2022?

Well, we aren't going to give everything away, and there are always surprises around the bend.

We had several very cool plans for 2020 that still stand and I think will still be exciting and give us room to expand and grow.

The past two years have certainly been a challenge and we are excited to return but also to learn from those that have the challenge to "go first".

AB will Always be AB but we never hesitate to learn from others (and steal where appropriate!)

Glad to hear. Even if it's something like :"Coming Soon - The Future of AB in Progress." as a Sign - just showing a change in nature from 20/21 would be good. People get antsy when things sit stale & with an aura reflecting the ending nature other things have encountered. Anything to give them a goal to look forward to & such ^^

AB was put in an interesting position where we were one of the first conventions to cancel in 2020, but the vaccines and reopening didn't happen fast enough to open for 2021. In fact, reopening in MA was announced just a few weeks before AB21 was scheduled to happen. This now puts us as one of the last shows to come back. As such, the timeline of our general year-to-year operations seems really exaggerated compared to previous years. What I can say to you though is that we are currently following our typical year-to-year operations for 2022 as it would be for any other year :)

We're expecting many things will change but many others will also stay the same, especially in terms of how our general operational timeline works. We want to avoid giving vague statements as much as possible because it only comes back at us with more questions that we can't quite answer yet. No reason to put stress our volunteers by putting them in a situation of taking in questions that we don't quite have the answers to yet.

As always, we will always announce things as soon as they're finalized but because the rapidly evolving nature of... everything, things tend to fluctuate too often that it makes no sense to announce them until a little more closer to con when they'll be far less likely to change.

A relief to see that things are progressing as normally as these abnormal times allow. I just want to see everyone again next year.

Here is to hoping Memorial Day weekend is late enough for a seasonal stability in current & newly added seasonal viruses.

Maybe can even add a catch phrase "Best Bento in Boston""?
