Back To Normal?

If you're new to the city or taking the T in from out of town, this is where you can get advice from people living in The Hub. Please keep discussion limited to things in and around Boston.

Back To Normal?

Post by Iszumi »

Is everything back to normal in Boston? Are the T trains and the AMTRAK trains running? Is the area around Copley Square and the convention center still cordoned off? :? (So sorry to hear that Boston Comic Con was postponed but hopefully it will be rescheduled.)

To my knowledge, I believe that the MBTA is running fully, except for Copley Station which is still locked for security reasons. As for the street level, I believe that the Prudential entrance is opened, but I haven't ventured to the Hynes entrance at Boylston. My friend tells me that several areas (especially those affected by the explosions) are still blocked off on Boylston. Boston is still recovering, but we're all doing our best to return to normalcy.

If it is ok with you, I will like to help out on this one. I did travel the area on Saturday and from my understanding, not much has changed. Boylston is indeed still closed from Berkeley to Hereford. The entire Copley Square and Copley Station are still closed. They have opened the off ramp from the highway that goes into the area though.

From my understanding, they have come up with a five phase plan: Decontamination and Testing, Structural Building Assessments and Utility Coordination, Debris Removal, Internal Building Assessments, and Re-Entry, Communications, and Counseling. This, according to the news, should start as early as sometime this week. Don't know exactly how long it will take though. Hope this helps.

I was there yesterday, and my bus was detoured by the library and we had to ring around to Mass ave to get to Dalton street.

Been going every day since Wednesday and except for two restaurants everything's back to normal. The two that aren't open yet suffered significant by the bombings and are still boarded up.

Aside from that and the three shrines (one at each bombing site and one in Copley Square itself, which is the temporary location the memorials set up at the barricades were moved to) everything's back to normal.

I don't think I'd be wrong to assume the Copley Sq. Memorial will likely be there through next month. I am also expecting an increase in foot traffic this coming weekend by those from the Boston Area who may have wanted to check things out but just couldn't for whatever reason ^_^
