Where will it take place?
Room 313 in the Hynes convention center- Convention Saturday, at 5pm-7pm

In case you are wondering how this works.

The first six people who sign up with all the information needed are in.

There will be six additional slots available at the convention.
Just stop by the karaoke desk, we will have a sign-up sheet for the karaoke contest.

You need to know these things:

1 The karaoke contest is not open karaoke.
It's a contest, stay in the room, please.
Don't make us hunt you down.

2 This is rated by audience ballot voting, any cheating will not be taken lightly.

3 All contestant music will be provided on MP3, other playable format or compatible with a 3.5 jack.

4 Any musical equipment a contestant brings, the contestant is responsible for.

5 All songs will be under six minutes.

6 Duets are allowed but only one prize will be awarded to the pair.

8 This is a public performance people can to tape it.

9 No lyrics on stage.

10 HAVE FUN!! Show some movement!

FAQ

Do we allow lyrics?
Nope, no lyrics on that stage.

Do we allow non-karaoke versions of songs?
Yes! Non-karaoke versions are okay but people will judge accordingly.

Can we make a karaoke version for you?
No! The audio filters used to do that will make the track sound terrible.
(we can lower the music a lot and turn up your audio)

Why is their an online waiting list?
To cover anyone who drops out before the convention

Random order this year?
Yes, sign up order makes no difference to when you perform at the contest.

Again no pre-screening?!
Yup. Worked fine last time.

Can I sing anything?
The restrictions are JPOP,KPOP,Anime and Game Music (Within Reason)
Has to be pg-13 or less content wise as well.

Can I change my song?
You can change your song until two days before the convention then it's locked in.

Can I walk into the audience?
Our Mics are wireless for a reason.

Hello! Is it alright to ask questions about the contest here too?

I was wondering where the Karaoke desk will be Friday of the con so I can sign up there? Also, is it possible for me to bring my own microphone? If not, what kind of microphones do you use?

The karaoke desk will be in room 313 in the karaoke room.
We have wireless mics.

Bringing your own mic is okay, though be aware that setting it up may be difficult or too time-consuming to be feasible. Also
the wireless mics give decent sound already.

As you all are probably aware Anime Boston 2020 is canceled.
So where does that leave that contest?

Good news, those that entered will have spots saved for the 2021 karaoke contest.
Those that wish to be removed send me a private message.
The waitlist will be wiped as well and restarted for 2021.
I can only hope for the best in the next coming year and look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
