Questions about the Dance/dance

Post by Domino »

So I have a few questions about the dance/dance (whatever it's called). When do these occur? I have heard various sources say Friday and Saturday night, and that sounds reasonable.
My next question is whether or not DJs accept requests.
My final question leads on from the last, do DJs accept CDs? In this case, they aren't original but burnt mixes.

Sorry for the short and sweet post, but as I didn't attend the dance last year, I have no idea how it's ran. I'm also rather tired at 3 am, so if I need to explain more thoroughly, I'll do it later XD

Well, though they are technically "informal dances" the truth is they're really just dances minus the drug use. :P so you should expect mixes/remixes of amazing songs throughout the entire spectrum of electronic music genres. So, they won't take requests, but thats only because they know what you want to listen to! :D its truly amazing, and i highly encourage you to attend this incredible event!

So we can't write the "R" word without it autocorrecting to dance. Interesting...

Yep. It's a dance, and just a dance. That other word implies that there are other... unsavory (and illegal) activities involved. We don't want people to get the wrong idea, especially concerned parents who may be checking out our events to see if they're safe. It also gets into a legal area with local and state laws, and we want to be on the right side of that.

So the word filter is in there and it will stay. If people find ways around it, I'll just update the filter. And if they keep trying, they may loose forum posting privileges.

Ah! I see the reasoning. Makes sense, I honestly am not overly familiar with the "r" word myself. But when I read 'dance' i think of an environment where I might be able to throw in some hustle or swing...but from my experience in the past, I found the "dance" to more of an environment where I get elbowed in the head and stomped on:(
I was hoping maybe things had changed when I saw the name changed!

Maybe in the future besides the formal ball there can be a swing dance? For those of us who like to boogie on down, without having our ears blown out. Gosh, I think I'm aging myself here...

in the interest of full disclosure, it will not ALL be swing music haha! Also with a jazz theme, you'll find it will be more west coast swing-centric than not.

Never the less, we'll slip a few in there! If there's considered interest in swing dancing at the lounge though, we'll consider focusing it more on that next year!

I've already expressed interest, but I will express it again:) Each year the formal ball sells out, I think this is a sign that quite a few people are interested in an organized (non-electronic) dance scene.

The more 21+ stuff the better, too. It's so nice to have a break in the day (and before the late night hours) to relax with a more mature (I don't mean that in a bad way!) crowd.
