Manga Cafe?

Post by Meeps »

I couldn't figure out which category to put this in, so I apologize. I also couldn't find Anime Boston contact information on the subject, and am posting here instead.

I want to know if it's possible to make an Manga Cafe-type room at AB'12. If one already exists that's great, and if not I'd like to see about making one. Could someone please inform me as to:
-Food/Drink safety and regulation policies (if allowed at all)
-How much a room for the weekend might cost
-If anyone would want in on helping me make this happen (as long as it's allowed)
-Who to contact in the future about such questions

I appreciate your help in advance!

It seems no distribution of food outside of the official convention food stand is allowed in the con (thus why we'll have to do the anime seder informally in the food court or the hotel or something).

So there isn't a way to get a temporary permit or something, which would assure the quality and safety of the food/drinks?

EDIT: What's the seder?

The Hynes Convention Center has an exclusive food and beverage contract with Levy Restaurants. No one is permitted to distribute/sell food or beverages otherwise.

Special dinner for the first two nights of Passover (which overlap with AB this year, unfortunately/perhaps fortunately if we can get something together around the con).

I'm just going to keep dreaming until one comes true.

I think the point that they are trying to get across they would like to have more like a maids and or host club atmosphere. But since the contract doesn't allow for it. Its a mute point.

Other anime conventions have the maids/host club theme for con goers to eat and hang out. Also, some of them donate the money earned to charities.
