*phew* Thanks for the update. I was getting really nervous that I wouldn't be able to request one in time.
Now I'll wait patiently for directions on where to pick up the ticket.

I'm kind of disconcerted about the fact that this information is not up on the actual ball page yet. There are links directing people to the ball page for more information on tickets, but no information it to be found. I feel sorta bad for the people that don't check the forums because they might miss out on getting early tickets online.

Go here: https://registration.animeboston.com/status/ and log in. Then, at the bottom of the page, you click on the button that says 'request a ticket.' That's all you have to do. ^^

I'm on the fence for this. I want to go, but on the other hand my experience with the Cherry Blossom Ball didn't end well (it seemed like I was the only single guy there while the guy dressed as Ichiro behind me had five girls including one dressed as Kakashi (yeah, bewildered me too). I read the web site but still not convinced that it would be any better than the CBB last year. BTW, is there a cover charge for a ticket?

Heh, I was one of those girls. Don't feel bad though; he didn't get in.
Tickets seem to be going pretty fast. I just booked mine and there didn't seem to be many more left!

This is true. Since my status page doesn't have a link. This is troublesome, I emailed someone about the tickets last night before they posted how to reserve them. I guess I'll just have to pick one up at the con.

Right now, there are 66 tickets reserved, leaving 234. If you are not seeing any mention of the ball on your status page, you are probably looking at your payment. You need to use your "attendee code (the one that starts with an A)". Not the one that starts with a P.

Anything ballroom related has more available girls than boys... so wouldn't it be a good thing to be one of the few single guys in the room?
The event in general will be similar to the event last year, minus all the crowding, and with more dancable music, so it should be a better opportunity to actually get on the dance floor and mingle with people without being crushed.
That being said if it's not your thing, then it just isn't, and that's totally cool. There is a ton of other stuff to do at the con and someone would gladly take your place.

She'll have to go in and reserve it herself, with her attendee code (which was provided when you registered, and emailed to the email address that was entered for her.)

Would that kimono be fine? They were selling them at a stand at 2006, and I was going to lend it to a friend if it gets him in. The kimono is like that all the way down. Green with gold dragons, and gold inner lining.

I full picture might help but that looks like one of those cheap bathroom robe style "kimonos" not an acctual formal kimono with full sleeves and proper obi. Men who wish to wear kimono need to wear a formal men's kimono aka a Haori Hakama

Well, judging by looking alone, if it gives that feel, then it isn't worth it I suppose. oh well. Worse comes to worse, they could possibly get something in the dealers room if they have the time to, and there is a formal outfit seller there like there was last year.

Now what about those of us who bought their pre-reg with their artist alley table? I tried putting in the e-mail I used to buy my table on the status page, but nothing came. I tired all of my email addresses (and checked the spam/bulk folders) but nada. Do people like me need to do something special to get our codes?

Actually, I double-checked, and the prereg tickets went just before your post...so I'm afraid you'll have to get them at the con.

You can only request a ticket for yourself.

Just a bit of a question. Did that apply to grouped people? I know a few people who registered more than one person for the con also registered tickets for people in their groups. (Say, registered 7 people, so they took 7 tickets, whether the people going plan to use them or not)

We essentially mean one person per badge or registration code. If you happen to have more than one registration code on hand, (I've spoken to several people for example who registered for their younger siblings), it possible to log in with the other codes and sign up for the ball.
Generally, given how scarce tickets are, you should only sign up people who actually want to attend, but remember any unclaimed tickets will be given away at the con, so if they change their minds it won't go to waste.

Tickets will not be available at registration. It's enough of a zoo without throwing something else into the mix

We're actually borrowing from the autograph line policy. Those who would like autographs are only allowed to wait in line 30 mins before tickets are released. So the earliest you will be allowed to line up for ball tickets is 1:30pm. Sorry we just can't have a 300 person clogging up the third floor for several hours, and we want you to enjoy the rest of the convention!

So what sort of things will be put in place to keep people from loitering around the area until they can "line up", or a mass of people rushing the line and causing accidents/people falling over/etc, that sort of thing?
I've seen "You cannot line up until X time" executed in various ways for various events and it seems that nobody's really come up with a system that doesn't include a bit of turbulence, but maybe people lining up for formal ball tickets would be a bit more civil than people lining up for autographs :p

That's really more security than us, we set the policy they enforce it. I know the autograph policy worked really well last year so I think Ball tickets will be no exception.

Announcing: Cerulean Ball, Tickets Available
Hi ball staff,
So where is the ball this year? At the hynes or the hotel?
It would be nice to have at the hynes because of all the space and the huge rooms. Plus its the central venue for the weekend (for those not able to stay in the marriot)
one other question...
Are there two changes to get tickets for the ball 2:00 (website) and 4:30 (forum)? Where and when can we go and pick one up at AB?
Thanks ^_^

I need to edit that post above, but i don't have access to do so. 300 tickets will be released at 2:00 pm, if there are a significant amount of unclaimed tickets they will be released after the pick-up deadline (now 5:30pm) but that's a little iffy.
All convention events will be held in the Hynes this year, the Ball is no exception.

When dealing with people trying to line up before the stated time. We will kindly ask you to keep the area clear and move on to another part of the building.
The reason we do this is to keep and maintain a smooth flow of foot traffic though the building.
