Guest Suggestions (Non-Musical/Non-Japanese) for Anime Boston 2018

Post by Chairman Miaow » Fri Jul 14, 2017 4:27 pm

This thread is for Non-Japanese/Non-Musical Guest Suggestions Only.
To request a Musical Guest, please go to this thread.
To request a Japanese Guest, please go to this thread.

This thread is for Voice Actors, Producers, Directors, Artists, etc. that aren't musical acts or from Japan. If you have someone you'd like to see as a Guest at Anime Boston 2018, please use this thread to make your suggestion.

Here's some guidelines to keep in mind:

When suggesting a Guest, please give us their name and not just what shows they've been in, their character names, or titles they've worked on. Linking to their Wikipedia, Anime News Network, or Facebook page is a big help.

Keep in mind that even though someone may make a great Guest, there are a number of factors that go into the Guest of Honor selection process including - but not limited to - availability, scheduling conflicts, travel expenses, and logistics.

This is a suggestion thread, not a nomination or voting process; posts seconding and agreeing with suggestions may be removed to keep the thread focused on the suggestions themselves.

No matter how enthusiastic you are, do not ask someone if they'd be interested in attending Anime Boston as a Guest. Sometimes when a potential guest is contacted by fans about attending Anime Boston it can be misinterpreted it as an official invitation from the convention itself. This can lead to confusion, mixed signals, and disappointment for everyone. These situations can actually backfire and hurt the convention's chances to have a guest attend.

Thank you.

I am hoping you can bring Roland Kelts back as a guest? He is the author of the book "JapanAmerica: How Japanese Pop Culture Has Invaded The U.S."

"Roland Kelts is the author of the critically acclaimed bestseller, Japanamerica: How Japanese Pop Culture has Invaded the US. As a journalist, essayist and columnist, he writes for several publications, such as: The New Yorker, Time, The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, Newsweek Japan, The Los Angeles Times, The Yomiuri, and The Japan Times, and is considered an authority on contemporary Japanese culture and media. He is a frequent commentator on CNN, NPR, NHK and the BBC. Recently, Kelts delivered lectures for TED Talks in Tokyo and The World Economic Forum in Tianjin. He is currently a 2017 Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard University, where he is working on a new book."

Here also is a link to his blog:

Also, here is a link for YouTube showing Roland when he's presented panels at other cons, and when he's been on TV, etc.:

I wonder what the chances of inviting Sungwon Cho (aka ProZD) to Anime Boston this year are?

Without a doubt we should invite members from Rooster Teeth's RWBY team.

Miles Luna- Voice of Jaune Arc, Writer
Lindsay Jones- Voice of Ruby Rose
Barbara Dunkleman- Voice of Yang
Arryn Zech- Voice of Blake
Kara Eberle- Voice of Weiss

A small fraction of the immense talent developing this show. The Jeff Williams panel this past year was an immense success based on attendance alone. Given the success RWBY has had since then, including:

Premiering on Japanese TV
Getting an Official Japanese Dub
Debuting a Manga in Japan
Headlining Blazblue Cross Tag battle alongside legends from The BlazBlue games as well as Persona 4 Arena as the main series of the crossover game.

In 5 years the show has gone from a fun little web show to a phenomenon sweeping through Japan. I know I am not alone in wishing for these amazing people to be invited to Anime Boston.

Going along with the year's theme - Perhaps the crew from Voltron: Legendary Defender?

Voice actors:
Steven Yeun
Jeremy Shada
Bex Taylor-Klaus
Josh Keaton
Tyler Labine
Kimberly Brooks
Rhys Darby
Neil Kaplan
Cree Summer
A.J. Locascio

Executive producers:
Joaquim Dos Santos
Lauren Montgomery

(All names should be linked to their wikipedia pages)
The show is a reboot of the anime Beast King GoLion, and is currently very popular, along with several of the voice actors being well-known for their work in other shows and media (Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and Cree Summer's extensive list).

I'd love to see the entire L.A.V.A. team (Robbie Daymond, Ray Chase, and Max Mittelman) there. They're best known for the streaming channel "L.A.V.A.: Loud, Annoying, Very Annoying", but they've also been known to do improv shows at conventions.

Outside of that, I'd like to see Crispin Freeman, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Darin De Paul, and Matthew Mercer, all of who are voice actors.

For YouTube personalities and vloggers, I'd like to see ProZD (a.k.a. SungWon Cho), Mother's Basement (a.k.a. Geoff Thew), and Super Eyepatch Wolf (a.k.a. John Walsh).
AB Cosplays:
Kaworu Nagisa (Evangelion, AB '07)
Original Black Rose Duelist (Utena, AB '08)
Rule 63 Light Yagami (Death Note, AB '09)
KAITO (Vocaloid, AB '10)
Beatrice (Umineko, AB '11)
Matryoshka!Miku (Vocaloid, AB '12)
James Moriarty (BBC Sherlock, AB '12)
Nano (Nichijou, AB '13)
Thom Yorke (Radiohead, AB '14)
Daiya Higashikata (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, AB '15)
Elizabeth "Lisa Lisa" Joestar (Jojo, AB '16)
Rohan Kishbe (Jojo, AB '17)

This might be a weird suggestion, but I think it would be really cool if the YouTuber Super Eyepatch Wolf was invited. I know he's expressed interest in going to more conventions.

Here's his you tuber channel:
