Rhetorical question, but thanks for backing me up! :P

So yeah, it's not too much of a surprise that it'll take a little while to get things up and running there.

ok I was just staying at the Marriott three or four months ago, and the Dunkin Doughnuts is down (under reno) as well as their starbucks...but no need to fear...there is one on NewBerry Street...and one a bit closer (but the one on Newberry Street is way closer) and hopefully the Starbucks in the Marriott will be open by the convention, but when i was there it was closed.

and a poopy ton of stuff (eating wise in the mall) Was closed as well....Wagumama was there (Which is a plus) and there's a Potbelly i discovered near the garage...(where that ice cream place is at)

but Boston has a ton of places to eat out out side (if con goers are willing to step out of their comfort zone)

If I recall correctly, I believe there's a Starbucks in the Sheraton lobby.

oh there is, but that's to hard to get to cause it's always so crowded, be my guest if you feel like playing the line con game)

also there's one in the Barns and Noble (i completely forgot about that one)

there's also one right across the street (out side of the convention center) but that one's not as good as the one on NewBerry or in Barns and noble....

Depends on when you go. I waited in a line once, the other times I zoomed right through. Lines are something I expect from cons, so I just deal, even when wearing painful heels.

A number of the menus have been posted to the Eataly website. As expected, the sit down restaurants are a bit pricey. A number of the counters/carts are a bit more reasonable. Here are all of the menus!

Restaurant Menus:

La Pizza & La Pasta https://www.eataly.com/wp/wp-content/up ... .29.16.pdf

Bakery Breakfast Menu https://www.eataly.com/wp/wp-content/up ... .27.16.pdf

Cannoli Cart Menu https://www.eataly.com/wp/wp-content/up ... nu_LDS.pdf

Smoothies and Juice Bar https://www.eataly.com/wp/wp-content/up ... .27.16.pdf

There is also a pastry counter that doesn't have a menu posted as well as the Market that has a lot of fresh items available. Two caffes are also located in Eataly.

Across from Wagamama, there will soon be Anna's Taqueria, Dig Inn (similar to Tossed), and num Pang (Cambodian food).

the pasta/pizza restaurant is fantastic (As expected) and i'm assuming they have the cafe i mean a coffee counter with sweets and snacks...(when i mean cafe, they have a sweet bar with loads of chocolate which can bad if your a cosplayer) i went to the NYC one once and my dad went twice... i love the pasta, but if your watching your waste line you might not want to, and might i suggest potbelly for sandwiches and smoothies and nummy cookies?

i saw one near the parking gurage and i freaked out (in a fangirl way) over it when i saw it on the way out over the summer... i wish Boston had a Goldbergs great coffee...

I personally plan to check out Eataly over Christmas break to check on quality control for you all in a totally selfless effort that has nothing to do with my ardent love for pasta. ;)

So Eataly doesn't sell pizza by the slice? Is that presentation too plebeian for them?

For those of you who aren't able to scope out Eataly yet, what sort of things are you looking for (or not looking for) in it as a food option? Cost compared to proportion of food? Quickness of ordering? Affordability in general?

Though I know it's next to impossible, all of the above would be rad.

My biggest concern is probably quickness. I want to be able to jump right back into the fray of the con as quickly as possible.

Okay now that holidays are over, here's my brief Eataly report:

Firstly, deciding to go between Christmas and New Year's during peak holiday travel season and a month after Eataly opened was probably not the best timing as it was always going to be busy there.
The wait when we went mid-week during lunch for the Pizza & Pasta sit down, which mind you the Pru did seem busy in general, was 2 hrs. Again, this is likely due to the newness and busy time of year.

For counters, though, it didn't seem too bad. The line for paninis wasn't awful looking, and the Foccaceria line (where one can get Roman-style pizza) seemed to move too. Maybe not the fastest, but not waiting forever. The salad booth and La Gastronomia booth weren't very busy at all, and Gastronomia had offerings like soup and deli-ish counter cold salads and finds. The gelato counter wasn't much of a wait either, and was the thing I actually did buy. The gelato is very good. How busy it will be come AB, I cannot say.

Price-wise, you can find things to eat for $10 and under, easily.

It's not going to replace the Food Court, it is not supposed to be an equal replacement to the Food Court, so if you go in with that mentality (trying to totally equal the Food Court), you will likely be disappointed. However, if you have some time to spare and aren't in a rush, it can be a pleasant option.

If you ARE in a rush, I suggest the following places to grab and go quicker:

Au Bon Pain
sweetgreen
the various Fooda pop ups
Crazy Dough's
Trader Joes
Walgreens
etc.

Keep in mind a taqueria will be opening soon as well near Wagamama. Or, hit up a grocery store at the beginning of the weekend and stock up on sandwiches/salads etc. If you don't have a fridge, you can sorta hack around this by using your ice bucket full of ice to keep food cool during the weekend until you're ready to pack it to-go or eat it.

I know a lot of my friends were planning to go in big groups for lunch/dinner, but I just went a couple weeks ago and there is barely any seating! The restaurants have decent sized tables, but those are only for restaurant seating and are VERY pricey. If you want one of the take out items, like pizza, salad, sandwich, etc, you'd have to fight over one of the 8 teeny tiny tables with only 2 seats that are also in a really awkward place between aisles. Not a place that really encourages sticking around to eat.

I went there a couple of weeks ago and it seemed like it would be easier if they just took out the tables and chairs entirely. You can barely even get around.
