Anime Boston at Tokyo Kid's Halloween Costume Contest

Post by silversora »

On Sunday, October 30, we will be at Tokyo Kid from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Tokyo Kid will be hosting a costume contest where the top three contest winners will receive a prize! But that is not all! The first prize winner will also receive a free badge for Anime Boston this year. If you have already pre-registered and win the costume contest, you will be refunded the cost of your badge.

Pre-registration will be $45 for Adults and $35 for Youth (6-12).

See you there!

Costumes have to be hand made right? Other wise thats kinda cheeting, I mean then it would be who had the most money to buy a rocking costume, meanwhile someone who makes it with passion for anime so thats true talent. but what is the rules? And do you have to sign up? and where exactly and how?

Tokyo Kid is selecting the three best costumes based on their own criteria. Homemade is preferred, but not required. Judging will occur at 6pm; however, if you are unable to stay until 6pm we will take a picture and you will be judged during that time.

For the location of Tokyo Kid, head to the in person pre-registrations link on the main site under registration.

I may or might not go. as of right now i am planing on going in cosplay if only to get the free registration (money is good). I will be wearing my super domo suit as i have no other cosplay i can make on such short notice so i will be reusing *sigh*. And yes I made my cosplay its a mater of pride for me, and also i enjoy sewing. :)

Sadly I will not be able to attend as my sister-in-law is due to give birth to a new addition to our family either this weekend or early next week.
If I was going to go I think I'd wear my Rayquaza costume as it is so warm and fuzzy. :D

I'd totally go in style if I wasn't going to be ringing the long line at the register at the Trolley Depot in Salem, MA instead.

To people who got offended
Sorry that some people mistook my coment about making costumes, all I mant but it is I don't like when costume contests turn into money contests I like when you can see when people put time and effort into there costumes. But the most important part is that every one has fun and enjoys themselves and really acts like the character. What I love more then the costumes is when people really become the character. So I am sorry if my coment worked u up. (GlOMPS)

I wasn't offended (I don't think anyone was) and I don't mind bought cosplays, in fact I get good commissions. For me I just like sewing and planing out a cosplay is a new and interesting process every time. also a good elaborate cosplay will be expensive period.

As far as I'm aware, there are no scheduling changes due to the recent crazy weather.

In case of such developments, we will post notices on the homepage and here on the forums.

thank you, Im taking the judging with a grain of salt, the owner was just going with what HE liked it seemed.

that being said I thought the hellsing costumes that got 2nd were pretty good as well as the angry birds guy.

btw liked your nel cosplay, she is one of my favorite characters!

lol thank you so as one of you favorite charracters did i do good? Lol but still i loved your costume and it was handmade and like he said handmade would of won over the rest if there was judges so yeah lol. I was laughing so hard when you were getting ambushed and beat with a sword :D lol. My nel costume took around 56 hours to make it was crazy lol. how long did yours take and how did you make it? I personaly didnt like the angry bird it like the anime based ones and i didnt like the hellsing ones as much because they didnt look right even though they were store bought thats y even when things are store bought it doent mean they are done but I liked the girl dressed with the pink hair that was like 54 i was like omg i didnt even notice!!! but still ut costume was my fav. :D

mine took 100+ hours, each seam had to be hand stitched three times twice to secure the batting to the fur (each side), then each panel to each other. The box frame had to be custom fused together as we could not find a box with good dimensions, so using 30 sticks of hot glue and a bottle of normal glue we Frankenstein fused two boxes together. then the rest was easy

unfortunately because of my costume i was unable to see half the costumes ;_; or too much details, though i did get a good look at yours and the angry birds

Also that girl was 50?!?!? WOW! i never would have guessed
