Already added all my stuff to my schedule. I've used the app at Arisia and Zenkaikon and it made it so easy for me to remember where I was going next.

I love the idea of this! I'm just having the bad luck of getting a crash every-time I try and open the AB file. Any tech people know haw to fix this? (I already tried uninstalling then reinstalling the app)

Other cons' schedules work just fine, but AB's causes my tablet to force close the app.

GTablet running TnT-lite mod of Android 2.2.
It's wifi-only, not that that should make any differences if best coding practices were followed.

EDIT - I'm guessing I might be having a memory issue - going to update my firmware to something more recent and repartition the thing and report back.

Force closes on my Droid 2 Global. Tried clearing the data a couple times, re-downloading the guide.

Looking forward to using it once the bugs have been worked out. :content:

Try redownloading the the AB schedule in the app, I believe there's been an update and that may have fixed it. It wasn't working on my Samsung Galaxy Fascinate yesterday but after redownloading today it seems to be working for me at least

I have everything running smoothly on a Samsung Epic (Sprint - running Android 2.2 [FroYo]).

It's really nice to start to plan what panels to go to and have it easily available on my phone.

The options looked like they had push-based updates for the core app - some responses while goggling suggest the individual schedules for events can push updates once an hour, but only if you return to the app's home screen.

And, yes, it looks like the bug fix worked.

Tried to re-download today, and its working fine. Is anybody aware if you are able to write in your own personal events (photoshoots and such) or is putting them in the apps 'to do' list the only way?

Does the app automatically update when events are changed, cause at the moment there is a panel i want to see and it says noon on sunday on the app and 230 on sunday on the website.

the website will always be the one to default to. that is what we use internally for tracking things. There will be a more synchronized setup once we get on site, but always always always believe the website. even more than Con chowder.

There will be live digital signing in front of every event room this year, and those will also be drawing direct from the website. so we will be working our hardest to make sure the website is 100% up to date with ANY changes that may happen.

:o We have officially entered the future.
[/quote]

It has always been my personal goal to present the Best event we can with the resources we have available to us! The rarest of those resources is someone willing to step up and make an idea turn into a product we can present to you guys.

Our CTS group is one example (they do for example the AMV opener as well as most of the other "Funneies" we do at seating and during large events)
Our 5.1 rooms are another
This Signage system is yet another example.

There are hundreds of little things that happen at AB that are the result of the curiosity and dedication of our staff to present a better and better event. Some of them you can see (like the above), Some you endure (Our Registration system and all its iterations [thank god we gave up rolling our own and hired professionals!]), and others that you experience (our Theme group and all the things they do to really make the Hynes "Ours") but there are lots that are foundations our event is built on that will never openly be seen by the public (our Amazing DB that runs all our staffing and scheduling!!!!).

None of us are payed anything other than seeing something cool happen and our attendees enjoy themselves, and quite possibly learning as we go along!

So if you have an idea to better our convention the best way to see it happen is to step up and own it and make it happen! You too can "bring us into the future!"

Truth. Con Chowdah has to go to print at a certain time each night in order to be delivered the following morning to the Info Desks, so any changes that are made to the schedule after that time won't be reflected in the printed schedule. Your best bet is to check the printed schedule against the one on the web site or the mobile app. Each of the rooms also has a sign in front of it with the times of the events/panels in that room, so you can double-check there, too, in case there are last-minute changes and cancellations.

I'm responsible for updating the printed schedule this year, so I'm well-aware how not perfect it is. ^^;;

The schedule on the app will be updated more frequently at-con. Please remember that there are several days before the convention starts, so the app updates will be not as frequent as the online schedule in the run up to con, as they aren't necessary yet. At con, the app should be updated shortly after the online schedule is.

The Hynes app has a small fraction of events for AB scheduled in it. However, the information is not supplied directly by Anime Boston. For a full and up to date schedule, we still recommend using the Conventionist App, the website schedule, or the Con Chowdah flyer available at-con.

So how do the updates work on this? If I make my own schedule up by selecting events and the schedule changes, do my saved events get updated, or do I have to delete them all and build the list from scratch again?

The AMV contest doesn't show up in the Conventionist on my Droid. Plus, I no longer can find the feature which allows me to create my own events (ie, when I used this at PAX and wanted the Conventionist remember when/where I was meeting friends for lunch, I could plug in such a thing myself).

Any advice on either front? There's a thread about the AMV issue in that forum as well.

Try uninstalling the app, and re-installing it and downloading the AB schedule. The feed we send to the app system has everything, and the events show up for most people, so it may just be a glitch with your own phone.

That kinda limits the usability of the app if you have to delete everything with updates.

Agreed. Especially given that I've now set up "My Schedule" several times, given how often I've followed the advice to reinstall.

Sadly, a reinstall/redownload didn't fix the AMV issue. I still see no AMV contest Friday night at 10pm. The other person reporting this issue is also on a Droid, making me wonder if it's a platform-specific issue with the Conference Guide file.

Well, I can confirm it's missing on my droid as well. It's showing on iphones. The latest update we pushed was just 2 hours ago though. We're going to call the vendor to discuss it. It may be they have separate feeds for Apple and Android products, given the different marketplaces.

We'll try to get it fixed as best we can. Please remember, this is the first year we're doing this. There will inevitably be some kinks to iron out in this free convenience for you.
