I was so happy to see some characters that I didn't expect I was really expecting just an overload of Naruto Bleachand D-Grey.Man but what I got was:
Aku - Samuri Jack
Quail Man - Doug
Cole - Gears of War
5 Hunters, 2 Witches, Francies, AND Zoe - Left 4 Dead
and my personaly favorite: Gamestop Bunny - Gamestop

It was a great turn out of epic and unexpected cosplays I really hope to see more of this in the future esepcially from old cartoons there's nothing wrong with going retro!

Ever since it became common place for anime to be 200+ episodes long and really popular that's generally ALL I expect to see. I really was impressed with AB :D

I know last year at AnimeNEXT it was all the popular stuff over and over again

I saw a Gene Starwind (Outlaw Star), which made my weekend. I cosplayed Melfina two years ago and maybe three people knew who I was. The Big Daddy, the Sorrow (Metal Gear - well, actually, all the rare MGS characters, there were a lot of them), Count D (Pet Shop of Horrors), and the Red Spy at the Black Orchid Ball were treats this year.

I'm quite certain that there are more cosplays I could add to my list, but that would involve checking my photos.

There are a few cosplays I kind of forget about, but I see them every year and they make me smile:

Jesus
Waldo
Pants-man

But this year I was surprised to see a whole bunch of awesome Left 4 Dead cosplayers. They were all great, but Louis in particular made me laugh 'cause not only was his make up so blatantly hastily and carelessly done, but he acted like that jerk in the party who never stops hitting the voice buttons.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/ ... 4Dead3.jpg

A few years back I helped my brother make a Count D costume from Pet Shop of Horrors. So many people had no idea who he was, so that only added to my glee when I saw the two girls who made flawless basilisk and mermaid costumes from PSoH:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/ ... orrors.jpg

Lets see... Also unexpected and awesome costumes were:

Princess Ruto - Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Happy Mask Man - Zelda: Majora's Mask
Candle Jack - Freakazoid
Quailman - Doug
That Dryad that was walking around on Saturday
Alice - American McGee's Alice
Raven - Teen Titans
Team Fortress cosplayers

Candle Jack made me laugh because he wouldn't let me take his picture until I said his name. Tricky brute. lol.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet...but my friend and I saw a small group of people cosplaying as Dharma Initiative members (from LOST). it had to be one of the coolest moments of the con for us because we NEVER would have expected that, and it was awesome seeing a little representation for our favorite TV series. :D

Quail-Man made me squee. Props to you.
Didn't see Moonkin coming either.
Or Beastboy and Raven for that matter.
...Particularly Beastboy.
Happy Mask Man was another; Happy Mask Man + Skull Kid + Link was even better. I cannot describe in words how purely delighted I was to see those three.
Aku. What can I say? That was fantastic.
Lastly... Turnip Head. Or rather Sophie and Turnip Head. That was so cool! XD

What surprised me most however, was the extreme DECREASE of certain series. For example, there were a lot fewer D. Gray-Man cosplayers this year (no Cloud Nine? D: ). I saw the Death Note decrease coming, but was still shocked at how few there were compared to last year. Especially the L decrease, which I was very thankful for. Only saw one or two Matts though...surprising. A lot fewer Dawns, from Pokemon, too.

The extreme surge of Gurren Lagann this year (at least, it seemed like it to me) was nice. One Piece seems to be making a comeback too.
What made me shockingly elated though, was the EXTREME INFLUX of Axis Powers Hetalia cosplayers. That was unbelievable. I knew there would be a lot but...wow. Just...wow.

EDIT:// Oh...and though I knew it was coming... It was a whole 'nother thing to see the huge group of Fairy Tail nakama greeting my friend and I at the Fairy Tail meet up. ABOUT A DOZEN COSPLAYERS WITH NO REPEATS. YEEES.

Yeah, I remember in the short time I was at '08, every corner I passed there was at least one L, so it was nice to see a decrease in L's, but my friends and I decided we'd count the Misa's, and there were definately an outrageous number (50 on Friday alone), but probably less than last year...

My friend and I counted over a hundred Ls over the entire weekend last year. (Seriously; the tally is still in my Death Note... Wow, I just realized how bad that sounds. XD)

i saw one that was carrying a bottle of rum and doing the Jack Sparrow walk and making the face and everything. I wanted to tackle glomp him but I was in line for the Troy Baker panel and if I left the line millions of rabid fangirls would mutilate me and feed the remains to the pedobear... Plus, it was my first convention i got to attend for more than 10 minutes (i'm 18, my parents couldn't tell me no anymore :P) so I expected stuff from anime/manga/games/comics lol

yeah.... sorry mate, but if it makes up for anything most people have learned not to expect the spanish inquisition.
It takes some getting used to, but hey smashing your head against a wall helps relieve such a problem. ohh speaking of advice, A really good idea is to make bullet holes in your car, it gives it a speed boost, a unique look, and who would dare steal a car with bullet holes in it (intimidation y'know) nobody, thats who. Oh and despite what you may think, you did not leave the radio on in the closet and R. Kelly really is in there. Good luck next anime con... and please dont mistake communist-hippie-bountyhunter-extremists for Red Mages.

Dethklok, i seriously walked by them and was just like, "what's up with that guy's hair??" Then my friend shouts to me, "Dude, It's Dethklok!" Then i realized. Kick *** costume. I loved it once i realized. I still feel bad for the guy who has to be murderface. He did pull it off well though. :D

I tried so hard to tell people that hugging me would be kinda gross but the entire conversation went pretty much like this:

Them: *squee* Nemesis! Can I hug you?!
Me: Muuufff MmEmmm Muff! -I am really gross!- *wildly gestures*
Them: Yay! * Hands camera to someone to take a picture*
Me: MmmMmffmmffmfmmfmmm Mmmmmfmmm! -You really dont want to touch me. I'm soooo gross!- *gestures to latex mask and then to drippiness*
Them: *hugs Nemesis*
Me: *Smiles under mask* MmmmmFm Muff! Mmmememm mnnem mmem mmmm! -Thank you! Really made my day!-

i was at the RE shoot on saturday and i was wrapping up my picture taking and turned the corner and almost ran into him, scared me cause i wasnt expecting to run into someone and especially him.
I left almost right after and heard all the RE cosplayers go wild when they saw him.
I thought that was really nice of them. I was trying to repair my costume cause some D--k messed it up. (long story) I knew there was a photoshoot but forgot where so I was on that floor heading to Artist Alley to see my brother who works there in a booth. I get off the elevator and cute female Wesker is like " HEEEEY! WE WERE LOOKING FOR YOU! HEY EVERYONE LOOK WHO WE FOUND!!" Obviously there are still things even now that make me blush. Good thing I was wearing a mask cause it was a furious one when I saw how great the RE people were.

---

I was apart of the Black Lagoon group which was pretty awesome. Great people and we had a good time getting together at AB even though most people didnt know who we were. lol.

We are all the same when it comes to cosplay. Our motives may be different but in the end we all just want to play pretend.

I wasn't expecting so many either, but it was nice to see that there were people just as messed up in the head as me XD

ran after them. Saw them all the way down the hallway on the third floor, ran the length of the hallway all the way to right before the escalators to stop them for a shot. XD XD XD XD XD
Seconded!
I would have done the exact same thing if I hadn't caught them meandering around slowly in Artist's Alley (they were browsing). Lucky me~!
A decrease of L's? Well, I didn't know who he was last year so your right... anyways, THERE WERE MORE L'S?! I said there was one around every corner, but no, people dismissed it as paranoia...

Hey that's me! Thank you so much for your appreciation for all of the finicky little details I put in. I'm pretty crazy about that kind of thing! :D
