Anime would be nothing without art. This forum is here for artists to discuss the art show and artists' alley.

FUNimation Announces Stance on Fan Art

Post by PatrickD »

FUNimation has issued a PDF announcing their official stance on fan art. This is essential reading for anyone creating and selling fan art from FUNimation properties at conventions (such as in artists' alleys or dealers' rooms) or online.

Basically, I interpret it for artists' alley as "Don't use FUNimation's product names or logos". ...so you can't say "Fullmetal Alchemist art" on a sign or use the One Piece logo...but a sketch of Goku is fine.

Character names is a bit of a grey area.

That's how I read it, also. Anything with any logo (like if it's just a logo that someone doesn't own or license) gets taken down. I probably wouldn't get as tight about it if we're talking about like a patch that's depicted on someone's outfit in an illustration. But I would if it's just an embroidered patch of a logo someone doesn't own or license. This is stuff we were already getting on already, basically.
