What Anime in 2012? Oh Yeah!!

Hi All,

Back for 2012. I hope things have been going well since I have been kind of trolling the other forums and realized nobody has posted here since right after our con this year.

Being that this coming con will be our 10th, I want to stir the pot and do something different. Yea, we will still be playing a plethora of anime to satisfy everyone, but that is too easy.. at least for me it is. Something I wanted to do last year, but got too lazy.. lol. But I will keep it at that..

So what anime has everyone been watching since Anime Boston 2011? What do you think of the new stuff you watched and would you like to see it in 2012? Like always, I have a pretty good handle on the anime pulse, but I always love input and so do my friends in the industry.

I will start with what I personally have been watching that may give a glimpse as to what I have been starting to add to a potential viewing list for 2012. I have watched Katanagatari, a very good anime with a crisp and slightly different anime style than most, but in a good way. We didn't show it in 2011, so it may get some screen time for others to enjoy from NIS America. Steins;Gate is phenomenal and has been picked up by Funimation. It is a great series if you like a show that keeps you thinking. Without rambling and boring you guys too much about anime right now, I'll cut it short and ask your opinions? Just keep in mind that the time between now and AB in 2012 is much longer in anime time... much can change and I know there are lots of cool stuff coming down the pipeline.

Steins;Gate is an amazing anime I agree, if my avatar didn't give anything away. Another good one is Fate/Zero, it's one of the animes I look forward to watching the most so far. It's a prequel to Fate/Stay Night about the 3rd Holy Grail War too so it'll probably interest people who've seen Fate/Stay Night or get them into that too. I recently picked up Guilty Crown and that's been pretty awesome too, its fast pace kept my attention and the first episode just sucked me in.

Those are probably my top three favorites since AB 2011. Hope it was helpful

If the Panty and Stocking dub is ready by then, that's definitely something I'd want to see.

On the live-action side of things, if possible, you NEED to screen the Phoenix Wright movie! It's not licensed yet in America, but that didn't stop you from showing a Garden of Sinners movie before it was licensed. It looks awesome and it would certainly be a way to appeal to the gamer crowd which may be torn between AB and PAX.

-Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below (I just saw this yesterday, it is AMAZING)
-Puella Magi Madoka Magica (I do believe this is getting a US release before AB)
-Ef: A Tale of Memories (I know this isn't new, but it is getting a US release for the first time in January)

Any other suggestions or stuff you want to watch? The con is only a couple months away. I know we have some goodies lined up too. As much as I love picking out anime for you guys, I always like feedback too.

This year, I'm looking forward to checking out Panty & Stocking, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. If I could get a preview of them at the con that would be rad.

It's not being released until May, but could you possibly get an early screening of Gundam Unicorn Episode 5? Since it's not going to be released on DVD con screenings are the only way I'll be able to see it.

I'm also interested in checking out the movie First Squad.

Fairy Tail is out!!! that would be a great suggestion!! All though I don't like the english as much lol If you do show it please show both japanese and english at least or..... not idk lol I also got to see Ao no exorcist and can't wait to cosplay rin. I believe it's still fansubbed though and can't really show it, but maybe next year. other than that I have seen a few here and there OH will you be showing anime movies too? Summer wars (if you haven't already shown it) is great!!!

I still would like to see Gundam Unicorn. I remember the first volume being on the schedule in a past year but I wasn't able to make it and it hasn't played at any other conventions I've attended.

I'm also curious about Kimi no Todoke, the dub of The World God Only Knows, and on the LA side Battle Royale (which is finally getting a legit American DVD release).

I'd see Redline being a great crowd-pleaser. I just screened it a couple nights ago for a crowd who had no idea what it was, and they all loved it.

I guess since Black Butler II is coming out the 3rd, it will be brand-new for the con and not many people will have seen it yet!! (The dub, anyways.) So maybe that's something to consider~!

I was wondering if you could possibly air "Junko's Shamisen" again? I know it was shown last year, but I didn't get the opportunity to see it, and I'd love it if you could bring it back, if possible.

Also, is the anime series "Another" one that has not come over here to the States yet, or is it available here in the U.S.? If that series has been licensed, I would love to see it aired at AB as well.

Agreed (Fairy Tail)! Tiger & Bunny is also really good! There's only a sub though (I like subs better though)

Chihayafuru (artwork is beautiful great storyline)
Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son)

Time of Eve
Pandora Hearts (I know you showed it last year)


Also if we could get some "live action asian dramas (romance) I'd be overly psyched

Can't wait for AB this year...my kids are old enough to be out in the con without me and ill be free to troll the viewing rooms all weekend...its what I live for at the con (besides the AMV'S)

It is very helpful when the program and signs on the door let us know if the program is subbed or dubbed.

Tell me about it. There are MANY Sailor Moon cosplayers that go to the con, and there are always Sailor Moon panels every year, but the DVDs are always hard to get hands on and the show is simply no longer on TV. I am sure alot of people would love to see Sailor Moon at the con.

Actually (this probably too short notice for this year, but maybe in the future)... a screening room dedicated to "retro" anime would probably go over really well with attendees! Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Fushigi Yuugi, Tenchi Muyo, Card Captor Sakura, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Hamtaro... I bet alot of the born-in-the-late-80s/early-90s generation would really appreciate something like that!

I also support the 80/90s anime room. Really, it could be a hit. I hope the video coordinator puts it into consideration. I know I would be there. It's so sad you can't watch the old shows on TV anymore. .... A con room dedicated to them would ensure something to do all con long. I would watch practically any of them.

I really tried to make an "old school" room, but the problem lieing with who has the rights. One example is Sailor Moon... Would love to show it in the room but since nobody in the us has e rights right now, it can not be shown. There are many anime that unfortunately fall under that umbrella.. Both old stuff and brand new stuff.

I noticed you took both my suggestions. was wondering how you got ao no exorcist and is it going to be in japanese?? (most likely going to miss it because of events)
