Foundations of Anime

Post by Nemra »

Foundations of Anime is a new initiative by Anime Boston based on the Sheraton’s 5th floor. We have curated unique, intellectual and engaging programming from local professors, academics and experts to bring together a high caliber collection of panels and presentations. In addition to our panel offerings, we are presenting a unique collection of classic anime.

I definitely have to check this out! Will there be a listing of the lectures (?) online before con?

I am quite interested, but the wording feels a bit vague. I'll certainly keep my eye out for information in the future.

I may have to see what kind of classic anime will be discussed but it's cool that AB is able to use even more of the Sheraton this year.

Looks very interesting. How can we get more info? Will there be a schedule with the main con schedule? Will it be on Guidebook?

The schedule for the Foundations of Anime track will be included in the master schedule. It will be in guidebook as well. The schedule for this and everything else will be released this week.

Will this be part of AB16? I really enjoyed the presentation on Central Park Media I attended!

Can someone elaborate more on what this is?

Attendee from 2010 to 2018. Ran multiple panels at AB from 2012 to 2016. Plans to return as a panelist in 2025 or 2026!

...All-around nice guy. Please subscribe to both blogs, especially the second one for Anime and Manga-related news or updates ^_^

it's basically a set of panels that help those who want to know more about anime (novices like myself) get a better understanding of it. Like any art medium, anime does not operate in a vacuum and is affected by both real-world events and preceding works. The presentation I went to on Central Park Media discussed the company and what series (manga, anime, etc.) it made. The presenter was even in costume as MD Geist, the company's official spokesmecha, to liven thing up a bit. The presentation also noted references to prior anime. For example, it was explained how a clip from Project A-Ko was a parody of Fist of the North Star.
