AMV Editor Dinner

Well its getting to be around that time again, where people are starting to become more active on the forums So I am proud to announce the details of the third annual Anime Boston AMV Editor Dinner.

Like last year the dinner will be held on the thursday night before Anime Boston starts. [strike]We will be returning to Chili's once again in the Copley Place Mall.[/strike] This year should be easier for newcomers to find it seeing as the official hotel is the Marriott which is maybe a 1 minute walk away and in the same building.

The dinner will start at 8 pm, and this year i will make sure to arrive an hour early to the restaurant to ensure a repeat of last years wait will not occur. But to allow this to happen I need everyone who wants to attend to post their first name, studio name, forum name and how many friends/family they are planning on bringing. This way i should have an accurate count to give the restaurant.

If you are unable to attend after letting me know you would I would appreciate a forum post, pm or email to let me know so that I can take you off of the list.

Understandbly things come up but this will just make it easier for me when getting a table for the dinner. If anyone needs directions to the restaurant please feel free to ask and i will be more than happy to oblige.

I hope to see everyone from last year again and also some new faces as well. It is always a good time.

Any smaller gathering prior to the competition in the works? I think breakfast's been done before, though that's dependent on the main event actually being held in the morning.

I'll be there for whatever we do. I may have a guest or 2 this year, but I honestly don't know at this point. Might we perhaps change the venue to some place that actually accepts reservations this time though?

I was thinking about that Justin, and there is only one really feasable choice besides chilis for affordability and that is the cheesecake factory which is also iffy do to their prices. Other than that all the other restaurants in the local vicinity are very expensive unless they are fast food. I am doing this for everyone, so if everyone doesn't mind cheesecake factory then i will change the location to there rather than chilis as they do take reservations. But until the majority of the people attending the dinner agree i am leaving it at Chili's and I will just get there extra early to ensure that an issue like last year doesn't occur again.

For a point of reference, the AWA dinner was at a cheesecake factory this year... they had about 100 people. This has no real relevance to our dinner except to say that all the cool kids are doing it.

I thought you ended up not even coming last year.

And we usually (sometimes?) do breakfast at Starbucks before the AM screening.

Also I vote for the Cheesecake Factory as well.

I couldn't, I had a new job and no vacation time, no place to stay, etc. The year before that I WAS at AB, and the year before that... I can probably do breakfast, though, if I finish my AMV and get into the finals - otherwise I'll be waiting in line for 2.5 hours along with everyone else. (Now I'm a "real" editor, too, so I don't feel ridiculous about dropping in on an editor's gathering. hehehehe)

FYI, the Cheesecake Factory does not accept reservations. Yeah, you can get there an hour/hour and a half early and pick up a beeper, but that's it. It could be awhile before enough tables open up to accommodate everyone.

The CF at The Prudential Center - the beepers will still work if you go as far as Barnes & Noble (or whatever that bookstore is there), so there's something to keep you occupied if you do have to wait a long time and don't want to huddle in the corridor. Just don't clog the manga aisle.

Hey guys, wow looks like cheesecake factory is becoming the place of choice, I will still leave chilis up there but the way it is looking i will probably change the location. Sorry about the misinformation about the cheesecake factory, i had confused their policy with another restaurant, but to make sure what happened last year didn't happen then i would go early and get a buzzer and call them ahead to warn them.

Also shadowwolf i didn't know if you wanted me to put you on the official list or not so I will leave you off until you let me know you want to be put on.

Yo! I should be there for the dinner. I personally would prefer The Cheesecake factory over Chili's.

I really hope AB's contest is going to be better than the disappointment that was Bakuretsu Con. It had about 2-3 good videos, the rest made me sorry that I didn't enter something (albeit I haven't made an amv in a while but after an incident where my comp died, I lost 5 months of work that I just finished, I really didn't feel up to it).

I am brand new to the editing community. This is the first time I have ever submitted anything for a convention. So please forgive my newbie stamp at this question...is this dinner open to anyone who submitted an amv to the contest? I'd like to come with a possible guest if it is open to all of us.

Yes, it's open to anyone who submitted, whether or not you make finals. I told Roy to get his butt back over here and update but, surprise surprise, he's being lazy.

Hello all, I am very sorry that it has taken me this long to post a response, and thank you kiarrens for helping answer some questions on the thread. I have updated the list to include everyone so far that has posted including possible guests.

Also it seems that everyone wants to go to the cheesecake factory, so that is what we will do. Officially the AMV Editor Dinner has been moved to the Cheesecake Factory. We will still meet at 8 pm there, and I will be going earlier in order to secure tables for us because of last year at chili's.

Also to re-answer your quesion Pettrucio, yes this dinner is open to people who are submitted this year or have submitted in past years to Anime Boston, and any guests that want to accompany them. Just so you know I have added you to the list as well.

Once again, I am sorry for being so tardy on my posts, but my schedule has been far more hectic than I could have imagined it would have been, but I should be around slightly more to answer any questions anyone has about the dinner.

I will be there as long as nothing goes horribly wrong, but I need to know something first. Are there any rules regarding kids? If I come, my 1 & 1/2 year old would have to come too. There's also a chance my sister may be coming and I believe she would have to bring he 7 year old. If you don't want little ones there, I understand, but do I want to go. I also would like to bring my mom, if that's ok.

There's the number for the Cheesecake Factory at the Pru. Call ahead and make the reservation. Do it early, so you can all be sitting together AND not have to wait while they figure out how to seat all of you.

I am just hoping that this year's AMV showings at AB will be as good if not better than previous years. ^_^

The Cheescake Facotory is a bit pricier with thier menu. I'd probably say anywhere starting at around $7-8 up.
