AMV Dinner Returns to UNO's

My group and I always go to Uno's the Thursday before the convention. If we are there at the same time this is being held, I'll definitely stop by and say a quick hello to everyone. It looks like it's going to be a large group of people so I'm likely to be a little shy if I do see all of you there.

I forgot everyone was at Uno's for the AMV dinner last year too - I really missed out on a lot by not being able to attend AB last year.

Yes!! STOP BY! Not sure if I'll be there, but I hope to see you! Heh, I'd say look for the chick with the red hair, but I'm not the only redhead likely to be there.

Oh, I know: I'm the older one. ROFL

If it makes you feel better, last year (was it last year? my memory is a bit hazy on this point) they seated us in about three separate locations, so at any given time there were maybe 10-12 people in one place. So it's potentially not like you're standing in front of 25 people introducing yourself. ^_^

Speaking of which, is there anything that can be done to have seating arranged so we're all kind of sitting "together?" I know there's certainly fire codes and things, but it would be nice if the dinner felt more like a big group than several groups splintered off that don't really interact with one another.

I think that's the nature of dining rooms and large groups in general. Geometry and all that.

Lol, well, last year, our timing was pretty perfect. We saw everyone as we entered Unos last year, but sadly, you weren't with us.

.... Everyone walked by us, and I exchanged a greeting to someone, but that was about it. Won't lie, I'm not easily one to go to a group and say "Hey! It's me!", you know?... plus, the two other girls in our group *As you know* aren't in the AMV contest *So they would feel really awkward just there with this huge group of random people they have no relation with*, and obviously were pretty hungry at the time, and well as the AMV group I am sure, so I didn't want to pull back any time either.

I dunno though, heck, we have our own group of 6 this year. We usually hit Unos about 6-7PM, so you know, we are probably going to cross paths again. We check into the hotel about maybe 3:30-4:30, depending on early check-in and lines, settle in, get our badges, get back to the hotel room, sit around a bit, then head out. Each year, the time would be about 6-7PM for us, so I would have to guess that is when, but if you are really up to it, and no one is killing eachother over food at the time, we could postpone it to a better time if need to, but probably wouldn't have to.

Either way Meli, it's fantastic to have you back again this year, and I hope the hotel works just fine. With a few weeks until the con now too, there is a few other things about Thursday we all need to talk about too whenever you two get the chance. No means to hi-jack the thread with this part, but there are a few things that we should get squared away still.

Knowing that actually helps a lot, thanks! As my group member said we'll probably be there at the same time. This is going to be fun.

That made me laugh a lot xD Sounds like a plan. I actually pictured the L icon you used to have dancing in that chair instead of it going off screen after I read it.

Those were my thoughts exactly: it would be awkward for some people in our group who don't edit. So, as long as the AMV dinner group doesn't mind me interrupting their meal and everyone at our table doesn't mind me going away for 5-10 minutes I can get up and introduce myself (or if we get lucky we'll see everyone in the line to get in again). I love how it's such a routine now that we know the exact time we are going to do everything on Thursday. Like you said there is a lot to discuss still about Thursday though since there will be more people than usual. Sorry about that. I've been working and when I'm not too tired I've been editing and trying to finish up my second video before the deadline. I'll e-mail you tonight and you are also welcome to email me anytime. Thanks for the welcome back! *Wonders how your second AMV submission is coming along as she loads up Vegas*

Yeah, last year, it was just that. We walked in, everyone was in a big group in front of the door, lol.

Work is work. It's understandable, no need to apologize for having a life, right? Haha. Don't think I am holding anything against you, I'm not, lol.

As for my second AMV, uhhh. I really don't know how to answer that. It will be finished any day now, but whether or not it gets in, I am still very.... worried about it. I like it, don't get me wrong, but the presence of the video is almost taboo on two different levels, which could effect me, if or if not it makes it in the contest. We will see though. The first one is about ready to be sent, I found a hiccup in a spot, but it's good.

Is the problem that it's too big to upload to the 'org? Because they raised the file size restrictions recently (150MB, 300MB for donators) if that helps. If it's a process problem, there's a step-by-step guide with pictures that's platform independent.

I believe its a size issue. The smallest file size I have of Adversity is still too big. I could re-render it as a smaller file size/quality just to get it on there for the 2 people who requested to see it.

Is it a really long file? Try using h264 (using ZarxGUI if you'd like) at QC18 or so. We can take this to PM if you want so it doesn't derail the thread further if you'd like.

Bashar's suggestion about using ZarxGUI for compression is really good. It's what I use and the new version is unbelievable. http://www.amvhell.com/stuff/zarx264gui/ You can also PM me as well if you have any questions.

I also don't want to steer the conversation too much away from the AMV dinner. I'm really happy you might still try to upload it though if you can get the filesize down!

Feel free to come by the AMV 101 and 201 panels, too. We don't bite (much).

Although, I personally won't be at the 101 and will likely arrive at 201 late. I have to help with/participate in the Cosplay Death Match which is tentatively scheduled for about the same time the panels are.

YEah, the street is "Boylston". Unos isn't hard to find. Just a walk down the street from the convention center. I think it was like....across from the Lenox hotel or whatever. Same street as it atleast.
