Hey everyone, the moment you've been waiting for!!

This year's theme....

LEGENDS OF THE PAST VS. RISING STARS!!

Whether you are a a legendary hero or master villian, a solider from a long past time or a sports hero of wonder! Legends wants those who paved the way for the modern day and modern heroes and villians!!

Or

Show off you Rising Stars!! Upcoming heroes and villians, mages and sports stars, pop stars, demons and and slayers. All those who represent the new age, the next generation of legends to be!!

SWEET! I would say this is going to be the most flexible theme I have seen since good vs evil in 2012 (my first con). And because of that, the highest concentration of entries yet. A clash of the classic anime characters versus the new anime characters. Could this be my time to shine on the chess board as Yami Yugi, Ultimate Gohan, or Sonic the Hedgehog?

Legends is our retro team. I'm looking minimum requirement of 10 years, preferred between 15-20. However as long as the original series was released 10 years ago It will be considered.

Ah this is exactly the answer I was looking for thank you. One of the costumes I'm applying with is over 20 years old, so I knew it was fine, but there was another one that was from the early 2000's so I wasn't sure where he was going to fit in. Thanks.

What you need to look at is the series original debut date. For the Naruto series that is 1997, which is almost 20 years ago. That,being said I would take it into account.

There will be instructions and rules as to how to apply when the applications go live, which should be soon.

Hi, applications will indeed go live soonish, so keep checking back to the main Anime Boston page. There will be an announcement declaring when applications are open, and how long they'll stay that way.
Then you can go to http://animeboston.com/cosplayhq/ to apply.
For the Cosplay games like Chess, you'll need to submit a picture of you in your cosplay, so the coordinators know what to expect at the convention.
Spots for the Cosplay Games are not first-come-first-serve, so you have until the applications close to submit. You can also edit your submissions until the applications close. After apps close, then the Coordinators will look over submissions and email people back, whether they get in or not.

Unfortunately, characters for Cosplay Games must be from properties that originated in Japan like anime, manga, Japanese video games/live action, or Japanese adaptations of works in the public domain like RomeoXJuliet. See Cosplay FAQ #7 and #9 - http://www.animeboston.com/cosplay/cosplay_faq for more detail.

We love and embrace all types of cosplay, but we are bound by the rules set by the executives of the convention for cosplay game events. (Stop by HQ - we'd love to see your Star Wars costume!)

Hello! Applications for all Cosplay Games events must be in by February 28.

I'm totally applying with my cosplay of L from "Death Note"! Finding out that "Death Note" is technically over ten years old now and fits with the "Legends of the Past" theme was both exciting and depressing at the same time. Lol, thanks Anime Boston for making me realize how old I am.

I uploaded my costume to Cosplay HQ and added a couple of photos. Is that all I needed to do? I'm still new to this.

Along the navigation bar on the left select COSPLAY ---> COSPLAY HQ. On this page select COSPLAY GAMES. This should bring up a page listing all of the events that you can apply to. Select whichever events you wish to apply to and fill out the information that appears. Then scroll to the bottom of the page where there is a rules page link there for you to read. Checking off the box confirms to us that you have read and understand the rules listed. Then just select SUBMIT APPLICATIONS. That's it.

I saw that but I thought it only went up to 2016. I just figured out what I was doing wrong and applied. Thank you very very much

Would I be able to apply as Yandere-chan from Yandere Simulator for Rising Stars? I know there's a rule about Japanese origin games for the Masquerade but I wasn't sure about Cosplay Chess.

The guidelines for entries as far as source material are concerned are the same for Masquerade as they are for Cosplay Games events.

To my knowledge, e-mails get sent when the organizer of the game in question finalizes their full list of participants, extras, and special attacks/events. Really, there's no set day, just as soon as they can finish. It sucks when waiting, but that's our only reason answer.

Chess in particular tends to take longer than other Cosplay Games events due to there typically being a theme for the teams, assigning people to the most appropriate chess piece, incorporating special attacks, and communicating with Cosplot before even being able to send out acceptance emails. Be patient. They will be out by the 19th.

CHESS WAS AMAZING <3 I loved getting to work with all of you, especially with writing the battle royale! I liked that sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, and I hope we can work together again another year!
