Japan, Ice Hockey, and the Asia League

Post by off_kilter »

Hi everyone if you don't mind I just wanted to plug my upcoming panel!

You've probly heard about Japan's pro baseball league, or maybe even J-league soccer given that the World Cup is coming up, but did you know Japan has a long history of ice hockey dating back before the "curse of the bambino"?

In my panel I'll be discussing:

The origins of ice hockey in Japan
The formation and reformation of the Japan Ice Hockey Federation
The Japanese National teams at the Olympics
The birth of Japan's professional league and the successor Asia League
Japan's impact on the NHL
The story of the Kokudo Bunnies
Hockey in anime and manga(YES IT EXISTS)

The panel is currently scheduled for Friday at 2:30 in the afternoon for 30 minutes, I hope you will be able to join me!

Hi everyone I just wanted to thank you all for attending! If you have any feedback let me know okay? This was the first time I ran this panel on ice hockey in Japan, and well the the first panel ever that I ran.

I think it came off fairly well, but I think there's room for improvement.
Things to add:
More in depth details for the Asia League teams
Add the Kokudo Bunnies feature I had originally cut.
Internet links for the ALIH, JIHF, and IIHF.
Quick explaination of IIHF rankings and where Japan's national teams place.
Compare the level of play to the North American or euro leagues.
Small tribute to defunct teams... maybe.
Pictures of ALIH arenas, mascots, and cheerleaders if possible.
List of recent ALIH champions.
Expand the bio of Ryozo Hiranuma.
More hockey manga scans.
More on the All Japan Championship Tournament

Things to cut:
Trim the timeline.

Hi everyone I've got great news! As befitting this year's theme of field and sports, Japan, Ice Hockey, and the Asia League is once again returning to Anime Boston with a new longer one hour timeslot! A lot has happend in the world of hockey with regards to Japan and As and I will have so much more to discuss like:

The next two upcoming winter olympic games in South Korea and possibly China and the effect its having on national teams across asia.

Asia League Ice Hockey's recent expansion with Sakhalin into Russia.

Russia's possible future expansion into China with their Kontinental Hockey League and its possible effect on the Asia League.

Japan's first professional WOMEN'S ice hockey player.

Michael "Asia League's Gretzky" Swift's continued dominance of the Asia League and his recent gaining of Korean citizenship to play for their national team.

And much, much more!
