Advice regarding a mask

Post by Painted_Outlaw » Sat Oct 29, 2016 10:31 am

Hello. This upcoming AB, I'm planning a cosplay for Masked Cure Muse (pic 1, pic 2) and I wished for advice regarding the titular mask that she wears in this outfit.

One of my friends suggested to use a dense fabric (which makes sense given I want it to stay up), I'm just not sure which fabric to use and googling proves fruitless when I get 50k answers and it just makes me more confused, heh. But yeah, tl;dr:, I was curious on what people here thought whether on fabric or just in general.

Hi!

What are your thoughts to using a thin foam and sculpting your mask, or at least your mask, tail?

Anyway, for a simi rigid mask try these videos:
cardboard and fabric:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErpYQuzM5sU (part 1)

If you want to go just fabric, try a wire mesh to make it stand up.
Modge podge would also give it a stiff nature, but might discolor your fabric a little.

When you say "If you want to go just fabric, try a wire mesh to make it stand up. ", do you mean set up a wire mesh and put the fabric over it? Or, make it all from the mesh? Just curious, really.

Sew your mask, leave the part of mask that rests on your head unsewn for the moment, have 18 gauge wire wrapped in the shape you like, insert into the hat then sew the bottom and adjust whatever you have too.
hope that helps :)
