Unclear on Cosplay Plastic/Foam swords

Sorry, this is going to be my first time cosplaying and I've read the weapons policy. The policy says "no practice swords or weapons" Does this include the semi-rigid foam swords (SparkFoam on Amazon)? I understand they could look like a real weapon at a distance. I know the weapons policy is up to the interpretation of the staff performing the prop weapons check, but would it be better to just cut off the entire blade and just use the handle and sheath? Has anyone gotten turned away previously for one of these bendy swords?

Although I would like to pose with the sword, I can always buy a second for photos and cut the blade off of one if it will be an issue.
