Alcohol flask filled with water for a prop? Is it OK?

Alcohol in the con is a big no no. I was wondering if it would be ok to have a flask filled with water (or something) to take swigs of. The character has one and is usually buzzed.

I'm asking more to know if i will be questioned or asked not to bring it if the staff or security sees me using it.

Personally I'd just fake it. Make a flask from foam or something so if somebody did have a concern, it could be easily, decisively settled (probably).

...You know, because security exists to protect us from extremely dangerous things like beverage containers.

We cannot pre-approve any prop before it is inspected on-site.

That being said, alcohol is specifically prohibited from the convention premises. Bringing something meant to contain alcohol will likely get a bit more attention from the security screeners.

My advice is to not put any liquid in it at all. It's a lot easier to show a container is empty than to say "it's full of not booze."

But again, this isn't pre-approving of any props. You'll have to wait til you get inspected.

They might open it and sniff it. They did that with a plastic water bottle I had with Frozen characters on it.

Mind if I come in with my two cents. From an Events perspective, I would personally follow the advise of others and either making your own flask or not fill it at all. Not filling it at all may also not be approved as you are going to be bringing in an open container known for storing alcohol. It may be better to fill the flask but with something that isn't liquid, like cotton balls or paper. That way, they can rest assure that no liquid will be placed in it throughout the convention.

Of course, I am going by my own experience and trying to apply it to a site I am not familiar with. For example, my place of employment is more stricter and would confiscate that flask, regardless of if something is in it or not. That is just the policy of where I work.

Have you heard of 3D printing. A company or person who has a 3D printer can make you a solid plastic flask. If you can draw it, you can 3D print it. I don't have contact info for someone who does 3D printing. I have seen cosplayers on Instagram talk about it.

If it's solid then there is no way you can put alcohol in it.
