Bus info into the Hynes from around area & $$

Post by k1koala »

So we will be staying at the Hampton Inn Crossroads and parking there. its about 20 minutes from the Hynes. I am told the bus is not far and goes right to the Hynes and is inexpensive. Does anyone know if this is in fact a good alternative to the Lyft and Uber? And how late do the buses run for us to get back to the hotel? Because the kids are under 18 we dont plan on staying after 8pm.

First off. Thanks for bringing you and your children to Anime Boston.

a great way to sort out the routing is through google maps.

That is a map setup for your hotel to the Convention Center.

Cost (from the MBTA site) is $2.10 per rider. I am way out of date for mass transit in Boston however i believe you would need to purchase a card. The MBTA has a great site for this:

I hope this helps and if you have any questions while you are with us do not hesitate to visit our info desks and our staff will be more than happy to answer your questions.

You're in the perfect location to take fantastic Bus line #1 which runs every 12 minutes on Friday and Saturday, and every 20 minutes on Sundays from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM.

From the Hampton Inn, you walk 2 minutes North on Massachussets Avenue to the stop at the corner of Albany Street. The bus stays on Massachussets Avenue and you get off 10 minutes later next to the Hynes subway station. You just need to walk down to Boylston street and turn left. On your return, the stops are the same, just on the opposite side of the street.

Aidan2 mentions the correct amount of $2.10 ($4.20 per round trip) for adults if paid cash on board. with children under 11 riding for free. You can also purchase charlie cards from the Hynes Metro Station where you will stop and put money on them: Adult rate: $1.60 ($3.20 round trip) Student Rate: $0.80 per trip ($1.60 round trip) and children under 11 still free.

If its nice and warm, you can enjoy a 30-minute walk along Massachussets Avenue to/from the convention center and take in the city sights.

Thank you soooo much for the info, it is great!!! Can I use cash to pay for the bus on our first ride? We will be taking our first ride from the hotel and wont have a card yet.

You can pay cash on the bus. It accepts bills and coins. The fair is $2.10 per person for the bus if you pay cash or with value loaded on the Charlie Ticket (thick card stock slip that fair machines dispense).

You may want to ask your hotel's desk if they have any Charlie Cards. Charlie Cards are re-loadable plastic cards (size of a credit card). You can load them when you get onto the bus or at a fair machine. Using them gets you a discounted price compared to cash or the Charlie Ticket. Bus fair with a Charlie Card is $1.60 per person. So you'd save $1 per person round trip each day.
