I am hoping to go as Link from skyward sword, and I was reading to policy on weapons. The sword i am making will be made of acrilic board. Would that be alright?

If it's like last year, you'll need to go to con security to get it approved.

While all props will need to be checked at-con, and staff cannot give concrete approval before then, please ask in our Convention Weapons Policy thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9541 . Convention security will answer your question there once they get the opportunity.
