I think that it would pass just fine as long as it's not so thin that you can see your bra through the fabric

Here's the dress code for the ball.
To be honest, that actually looks like a very casual dress, and it doesn't look appropriate even for a business casual environment. I would contact the Ball Coordinator to get a direct answer before purchasing, thank you!
