Formal Dance Question

Since i cant seem to find the proper thread i figured id pop my question in here.

So for the formal dance my gf got the whole kimono dress and everything. For me i went with a 50's era WWII Marine Uniform that i have from military re-enacting that i do. As long as I have the whole thing correct and dress shoes il be okay correct? Just want to make sure ahead of time. Thanks a lot!

Is it a combat uniform, or a dress unifrom? Would you wear it into battle, or the Governor's Ball? The former would not be appropriate, the latter would.
