The time is upon us to select the few, the proud, the people who can sing. Below are the details
for your [highlight]one chance at karaoke glory[/highlight]. There are a few requirements this year so be careful to check the details.

THE DETAILS:
1 - The Band size can be no more then four or as
low as one.

2 - You must submit a video clip with your entry
(To test your skill before hand)

3 - You must be able to move your equipment (if you have any) quickly and by yourselves.

4 - You need to be able to sit through the whole contest, no bailing out after your sing.

5 - You song must be under six minutes but prefer shorter.

6 - You must fill out an entry form and send it
to sagegaigar@gmail.com (Karaoke Manager) with the heading Attention Karaoke Manager.

Ah right we forgot to mention that this'll be limited to twelve contestants. Looking forward to what y'all come up with. Also aiming for this to be during masquerade as it has been in the past.

.___. Me and my friend wanted to do a song, I'm just not sure if she meant the competition or maybe some sort of open karaoke or whatever its called x3 (like, non-competition, just for fun) Its really up to her x3 so I'll ask her.

No you can solo, but also can be in a band of up to 3 people besides yourself.

We may have gotten a little overly ambitious on this but given that the theme of the con this year is music, I wanted that option available.

It's still the core Karaoke contest.

Great! Um, so video is needed huh? Audio only won't do? I don't know that I really have a way to record video.. Does the clip need to be the song we're gonna perform for the contest? And should it be a whole song or just a snippet?

I've been thinking about this a lot recently and I guess this wouldn't work for a lot of people. So it'll be an optional thing.
If you send us one, it should be of the song (enough to know serious about competing with it). Think of it this way. We get the submissions
and have to pick twelve to go up. If there are only 12 people willing to do it then will select those. But if not we need a way to narrow them down.

Doing a video is a bit embarrassing for me..but...the mic on my dad's fancy video camera pics up better than the mic on my own computer..XD so I'll probably do a video. Hoping to do it shortly X3

Actually, I think an audio recording option would also be doable for those who can't access cameras or would rather not make a video.

Most contests that ask for auditions ahead of time take audio. I've never actually had one ask for video before, lol. I run Idol at YoumaCon and I always ask for audio over video, but it's cause of the way me and my first round of judges judge it (need to have it ON my computer).

Of course, after I record my video XD well, I guess I'll just use the video for now. If it really gets bad, I'll just steal the audio from it. The sound on this camera is sooo much better than my crappy mic (though I still hate em both XD )

The songs can only be anime-related/J-pop, right?

If the answer is yes then I probably won't do it- my Japanese singing fails as I figured out at a Japanese karaoke bar...

Well, there are Engrish songs that are anime openings. However you will be competing against those who do songs in Japanese.

This is a contest.

It's the same difference as being one of the five thousand people cosplaying in the halls and actually being one of the few dozen people in the masquerade.

There is a *lot* of open karaoke for the whole convention. These are just special events we've got planned.

Who's 'playing along with you' I think is what's implied.

At this point I'll just go for audio if it' easier.

Also depending I might seperate the bands and solo artists to make it somewhat more fair. The band ideas was something thought up to match the theme this year.

Yeah its fine for now. At performance might look better if you've memorized the song but it's not something that'll end your chances. Just glad to get more submissions.

I may have missed it, but has there been any mention of when we'll know? We don't have a lot of time exactly, lol. I know the deadline was today (right? sent mine in so long ago, dunno). I just need to be able to plan everything accordingly. I ended up getting two of my panels, lol, plus there are lots of photoshoots and concerts I wanna attend, and I gotta manage my AA. I need to have my friends cover stuff for me, but I need to let them know ahead of time, so they can plan around it @_@

I don't know much myself (all the submissions went to Pete aka Shade of Grey) but we will have more information... "soon". Yeah, I hate the word too.

We've been having karaoke discussions fairly frequently (every week or every other week).

Lol, as long as it's not like...the week of the con or something. I'm sure anyone who actually gets in will want time to prepare XD Not crossing my fingers to get in myself, but I still know not a lot of people can jump in without some preparation. Even me personally, I'd have to switch songs and go back to one I've used before, but know super well if that was the case...@_@

Crazy to think the con is so close, eeks, still so much to do!

According to my sources (boyfriend), there weren't many submissions. So if you submitted, then you are most likely accepted.

We're going to have more sign-ups at the con as well.

Well, this is our first year doing it this way so hopefully this method will have more success in the following years.

Is there any news on WHEN the contest is, anyways? I've been looking around on the schedule, and I might be missing it, or it just might not be on there, lol. Both my panels are on Saturday, but thankfully, the concerts I wanna hit are late at night. So that just leaves the panels and photoshoots to mess with XD

Yeah, that's the same reason I'm worried. My schedule is already filling up fast, so I need to get things figured out. Being in artist alley tends to kill my ability to do everything I want to..XD

And since I've never been to this con before anyways, wouldn't have any inkling of when they've held it before...

If we don't have enough submissions. I don't know how many we currently have.

The contest is Saturday, 6-9pm. The Shuffle is Friday 5-8pm. ^^

Eeks, such a long time for it. IF I make it in, I'll hafta see if I can even go. I've got both my panels on Saturday, so that's already two hours i'll be gone from Artist Alley. Adding another three on top of it is gonna be tight...

I'm hoping that they at least let us know IF there were enough submissions or not for sure if we're in or not, really soon. The con's only two weeks away >.>

It might not take that long, depends on technical difficulties, how long people need to set up etc...

Though it is preferred contestants stay as long as possible. We have had people duck out before the end many times (and miss out on prizes!)

Perhaps something can be worked out if someone needs to leave after their turn.

All things we will discuss.

Feel free to post more questions/concerns here so we can work out as much as possible before the con.

Well, I don't want to start making plans only to find out that I didn't make it, lol. But I do want to stay for as much of it as I can, though I might have to bring my art stuff with me and work on commissions or something while people perform. Assuming, of course, I can get someone to cover my table that long. That's the big issue I have. I can probably get my mom to cover it for a couple hours, but I know if I DO make it, she'll want to come watch me perform, too, lol.

No news on when we'll know yet?
